I am seeing it all over facebook, not a good look for this device.
It's literally the new virtual boy.

I got sick from it as well.
I remember as a kid, Nintendo marketing the Virtual Boy as a portable device. It was really hyped as such. All us kids thought we’d be able to strap it on to our faces for those long car rides in the backseat. Man… Nintendo really burned all of us impressionable kids at the time.

After renting the Virtual Boy for a weekend from Blockbuster Video and realizing how awful it was, we concluded that the technology needed another 10 to 15 years to get to where it needs to be. Sound familiar? 🤣

I travel with my iPhone in my pocket, and I have my iPad stored in my backpack, which I can easily stash under the seat in front of me. Super easy. But the AVP apparently requires that huge $200 astronaut life-support bag to travel safely. Is it really worth all that effort to watch a movie on your flight?

I suspect a lot of people who expected to buy it for that reason will give up when they see that it‘s going to count them as a separate carry on bag and realize how burdensome it is. Not to mention they’ll look like a goober using it. Not that I really care what those around me think. But i do care what I think, and that’s not how i’d want to present myself to the world.
100%. It seems like a lot of bulk and effort just to be able to have a little less distraction while watching a movie on a plane. Esp if the flight is longer than a few hours and you run out of battery.

It reminds me of a line from an old Simpsons episode.. "is your car working for you, or are you working for your car?".

Apple recommends the Apple Vision Pro Travel Case, which is $200, a soft padded bag, or a "similar protective solution" to protect the Vision Pro from impacts and "excessive vibration."

Interesting. Impacts certainly, but excessive vibration? Would that include extreme air turbulence?

You’re overthinking it… it’s no different than anyone wearing a sleep mask and earplugs.
Actually, they should integrate it where you are in flight and if there were any announcements, they should come on your screen while you are watching. I think this would be a good safety measure so if the pilot says please turn off your devices, then that should go on your screen while you are watching Apple Vision Pro

The cover that comes with the Vision Pro should be placed on it to protect the glass before it is packed up, but Apple says users should also make sure there are no loose objects like keys or coins nearby that could scratch the internal displays.

Yet another example of Tim Crook trying to nickel-and-dime consumers...

Hey, Tim, isn't $3,900 per unit enough money, you greedy soulless corporate scum?

This thing is honestly just going to become a nuisance that is going to require more rules and laws to be made.

Can’t wait to hear about the first car accident caused by this.

And yeah…I hope Delta bans the thing too. It’s just not the type of tech you wanna travel with and use around others.

What you need to know about traveling with Apple Vision Pro.

Please don´t do it.

After enough of you messaged asking if I was going to do it… fine, I’ll be that guy, and wear Vision Pro on my flight home. It certainly ought to make it pass a lot faster!

Dread it. Run from it. Destiny arrives all the same.

I only see downsides here: it’s very asocial, it’s cumbersome, it requires additional carry-on and it lasts 1 movie. Barely.

Are we that detached from the world we can’t handle a plane flight?

This will only take off in these scenario’s when these devices become foldable. Or planes have them built-in.

What's missing from this guide is to check with your carrier if they allow the use of external/portable battery packs

Most carriers insist they are carried on board and not checked in luggage and there are limitations on size etc, this should not be a concern, but not all allow you to use or charge them during the flight.

Most carriers already have extra rules if you drop your phone between seats let alone a battery pack, which is one of their main concerns.

I expect Apple would have to release a direct power supply to get around these restrictions else many may find their AVP just sitting in the overhead locker

I will be flying with mine tomorrow. I am looking forward to watching a movie while reclining in my seat. I’ve always hated having to tilt my head forward in order to see the iPad display. I may also work on a keynote presentation while I’m at it. One of the reasons I got it was so I could do those things on an airplane. I wore my Apple Vision Pro for at least 6 to 8 hours today, no discomfort whatsoever. Well engineered device.
