I feel that for this phone, AT LEAST 512GB is necessary just for a decent experience. people here are going to be shocked later when they are full, can’t return the phone cause it’s 3 weeks into ownership… and then have to just deal with maxed storage for the life of the phone. Yikes
Nah. If that ever happens. I'll get rid of it. Go get a bigger size one. Remember people have different kinds of disposable income. We also have many more important issues in life to worry about than storage on a phone.

I am getting the 1TB version - I will always go for the largest one available. I’d get 2 if I could. I was looking forward to 1TB finally becoming available in an iPhone for a very long time, though I haven’t bought a new phone since the 11 Pro Max so now that I’m upgrading to the 14 Pro Max, I can finally actually get that 1TB iPhone!

Whenever I buy a new iPhone I always get the highest capacity Apple offers.

Currently I have a 512GB iPhone 11 Pro Max. I'm going to have to be fine with 512GB because that's the highest capacity Apple offered for this model.

I have a 2TB iCloud sub and 4.1TB with Dropbox.

Despite your post I think I'm going to be fine
Admittedly, 512GB is solid. It;s all of these 128GB, 256GB ppl that will be sorely mistake I am sure. Again, I have a 13 Pro 512GB so what do I know?

No disrespect OP because I know you're trying to be helpful but it sounds like you're assuming everyone uses their phone the same as you (e.g., "I’ve personally taken over 100 gigabytes of photos and videos in a single day on a 13 pro.") and it's all coming across as extremely condescending ("Guess you don’t take any movies, listen to any lossless music" or this one: "It;s all of these 128GB, 256GB ppl that will be sorely mistake I am sure. Again, I have a 13 Pro 512GB so what do I know?"). The more you reply, the more you're coming across as someone who thinks they know better than everyone else (except for those who buy iPhones with the most storage).

Most people do not take 100 GB of video and photos in a day. Most people do not listen to lossless music. Many people take video. They can offload that video to a computer or cloud storage if they run out of room. Or, they might just go back and decide an old movie isn't worth saving. Not everyone is a digital packrat.

"Have a 512GB iPhone 13 Pro, and it’s filled. In fact I can’t count the number of times I’ve had to ‘free up space’… so awkward. Thank me later."

I have an iPhone 13 Pro with 128 GB and it's not filled. I've never had to free up space. If 512 GB isn't enough for you, get more storage but don't assume everyone needs more.

I could respond on a point-by-point basis but the main idea here is that no one ever regrets getting more storage, and I constantly have to help others it seems like, free up space on their phone cause its filled. Consider this a PSA and your first and only hot tip. You;re welcome.

You missed the point of my comment. I'll simplify it.

1. Not everyone uses their phones the same as you.
2. You're trying to be helpful and give a "PSA" but how you are doing it is tone-deaf and condescending. Don't assume you know better or more than other people.

Guess you don’t take any movies, listen to any lossless music… sounds like you don’t hardly use your phone? Go out in public? Idk you do you.
How unnecessarily rude. Some people use their iPhones as business tools and barely use the camera, others make movies, others play games. You do you and perhaps think about other people’s circumstances, not just your own. This. Is. A. Forum.

I'm on a 128GB iPhone 13 with 40gb left. I would never need the top storage for my laptop, iPad or iPhone. Everything that can goes in the cloud. I don't put movies on a phone either that goes on the iPad and as far as an airplane goes it's either movies on the iPad, or reading on my Kindle which is typically how I spend most flights, reading.

I will say I AM going to the 256GB this year but would never need the max storage

I bought a 64GB SE2 about 15 months ago, there's still 24GB free space left.
I'm not sure what people do on a phone which needs half a terrabyte or more of space, but it seems I don't.
Now, computer, don't go there...I've half filled my Mac Studio's 2TB SSD and I'm wondering if I should have shelled-out for 4TB, but I think judicious housekeeping and archiving will save me.

You realize that’s nothing really, right? I have 80k photos and 7k videos in my iCloud Photos library… I feel like people end up missing out on capturing life when they pick these low storage sizes… 128GB? Lol
But I'm not storing your photos on my phone?

If you have 3000 unprocessed RAW images then you need to offload them and work through the backlog.
Any images synced to my phone are 'optimised' and smaller versions, the originals are all on my Mac.

I’m just out here trying to save lives and wallets… The hate is unfortunate but a necessary part of informing the public.

I’m currently on a 64GB XS Max that is only 80% full, so 256GB will be more than enough for me for the foreseeable future. If not, I’ll sell it and buy a new one with more.

At least you saw the light and ordered way up!

If you are someone who keeps your phone for any longer than a year, you have to consider that your storage needs are increasing as time goes on. Videos are 4K now, pictures have higher megapixel counts, etc. when the iPhone launched you had your choice between 4GB and a whopping 8GB. And that was expected to last you a long while given the capabilities of that iPhone. But that was 15 years ago, I don’t think anyone here would be able to last a day on 8GB now.

Bottom line - don’t buy the phone you need today, buy the phone you’ll need 2 years from now.

And to think some here think I’m crazy for saying 128GB;s wont be enough. It’s a shame.

Yeah, not a problem here.
