Is this gonna be another one of those "anyone who doesn't agree with me is the idiot" threads we've seen so much of recently, despite the fact we all use our devices for different purposes?

I couldn't even tell you what I'd use the storage in a 1TB phone for. If I bought a 1TB phone, the amount of space I need would look like an Austin Mini in the corner of an aircraft hangar. Heck I managed with a 16GB iPhone 6S for nearly five years, because iCloud exists. I already visualise this 64GB SE2 as though it has storage like a mansion.

But that doesn't mean everyone has to use theirs the same as me.

For instance, just this morning we saw 48 megapixel proraw photos will be 80 megabytes! Whatever you thought you were fine with in the past, won’t be as adequate. Future proof!
Future proof would be for apple to offer iCloud larger than 2TB or even 4TB for the family. Your argument works for gaming and apps. But if future proofing pjotos and videos is what you are after than you should ask apple to offer larger iCloud storage. For people that has more than 1TB combined photos and videos (I know quite a few) what storage size do you think it’s going to help? Storage optimization is the only way to go.

I’ve got an iPhone 13Pro.
Of the 512GB it has, 165GB is in use a year later.

I really should have saved £200 and gone for the 256GB version.

When I upgrade (to the iPhone 15 or later), I’ll not be wasting money on storage I will never need…

I just don’t need it. I don’t use my phone as a storage device and don’t anticipate taking pro raw photos. But we shall see, I may have to come back and eat my words later.

Airplane yes. But in the states it’s hard to find a time and location these days without cell service or wifi.

Im good with 128GB honestly. I dont like paying for what I dont use. But if you dont know if you'll manage, agreed get more (if you can afford it).

64 would be a no go though. Luckily the Pro's have started at 128GB since the 12 Pro. no more of that 64 to 256 $150 upcharge conundrum

Personally i prefer to "capture life" by being present. A few pictures here and there as a reminder is nice, but constantly hanging on the Phone to capture the moment will actually take you out of it. I have about 5k Photos and i don't feel like i missed anything.
Well put. It’s sad to see how many folks clearly have developed such a dependency on their expensive gadget to get through the day.

I’m confident I’ve spent more time on a plane than most everyone in this thread by a factor of 10, the times I find myself without cell service and actually needing it, like to make an urgent call, are fleetingly rare, and my 36k photo collection is safely stored and easily accessed on my iMac, backup drives, and cloud storage. In spite of that, my quality of life has not suffered. Honestly, who goes on vacation and has to watch movies — and on a phone no less?? (Ok, I’ll admit that I saw Der Soldat James Ryan in Germany when it came out, but that was as much for the audience experience as it was for the movie. But I digress.)

I’d hardly consider myself creative with time, but I can fairly easily manage to find a way to use my time without an injection from my electronic drug.

The 66 GB being used on my 128 GB phone seems well-populated with the 1200+ songs, dozens of podcasts, and assortment of documents and spreadsheets that reside there.

It seems seratonin imbalance is really a thing.

Dude why are you so bent on this? Just because YOU filled up your phone, doesn’t mean others do. I have the 512GB right now, still have 227GB of storage. Next year I’ll probably get the 1TB but for the time being, it’s not necessary for me.

I actually desperately want for Apple to add higher storage options. I'm currently using 2.9TB of iCloud storage. My first iCloud photo was over 12 years ago on June 11, 2010, taken by an iPhone 3g, and I have almost 2TB of of photos and videos now.

I'm just out here saving lives... but I can only hand people the life jacket, they have to put it on.😇

Why is OP ridiculing everyone who's saying he/she don't need more than 256GB (or even 128GB!!) storage? I'm pretty sure most people know what they need.

256GB is my go to phone storage size nowadays. I actually can live with 128GB, but for longevity sake, I would vote for 256GB. Right now on my 256GB S21, I'm using about 100GB. No videos, music, and only few photos. It's the apps that are taking up the space for me. In my country, literally every institution/company/shops, etc have their own app(s). It's ridiculous. 😂

I could respond on a point-by-point basis but the main idea here is that no one ever regrets getting more storage, and I constantly have to help others it seems like, free up space on their phone cause its filled. Consider this a PSA and your first and only hot tip. You;re welcome.
As I've never used more than maybe 60GB on my iPhones, I would be very pissed if someone like you talked me into spending an extra 400€ or more.
