In suburban Chicago they all had enough iphone 4s to take all comers on launch day, and had some left for Saturday morning. If I go, I'll probably show up right before close on Friday night. Once you're in line, you're good, even after the store "closes".

However, with 18 different models, there's a good chance certain ones will be sold out. My guess is the 32 white wifi sells out first.

I was planning to get mine from Sam's Club until I heard about the 5pm launch time frame. My Sam's that sells iPads is 30 minutes from the closest Apple store and if they didn't have the one I want at 5pm I'd have to brave rush hour to get to the mall and I'm afraid I'll be out of luck.

Guess I'll be standing in line at the Apple Store rather than take my chance on missing out.

I will be at garden state mall around 3pm in nj for apple store..

winning~~

It looks like Apple won't be doing pre-orders or reservations this time. I think I'll go to an Apple store Thursday night, anyone else?

Does the Apple stores restock the new iPad's every night? I want to know what my chances are on a Friday compared to Saturday and Sunday.

Some of the larger stores get shipments during the day during launch events. That's why I always go to the largest store near me, which happens to be in Newport Beach Fashion Island, for these launch events.

Today I went to my local Apple store to help my mom pick out a new MacBook. She ended up getting a 2.2ghz quad-core 15" model instead of the 13" we had originally talked about. Needless to say, I was very jealous... but I digress :)

At first, I asked one of the Specialists what time I should arrive to pick up my iPad 2. He said around "2 or 3" but then, the store manager brought out our new MacBook so I asked him as well. He pointed to the Specialist and said, "whatever this guy said to you, come 4-5 hours earlier than that."

They also mentioned they had no idea how much stock they would have and that they wouldn't even be receiving it until Friday afternoon. I don't know how much of that to believe.

I think I'll head down there around 9 and if there isn't anyone in line, I'll go see a movie and come back.

Wheres the guy that camped out for the iPhone 4 when everyone else received them a day or two before he was allowed to purchase one?

I bet that guy is in line as we speak! :apple:

The smart folks were camping out on March 2 before it was announced! Standing in line watching the live blogs of the announcement of course.

Two Apple Stores here...I may head out bout 3:30. Between 4 Best Buys, several Wal-marts and 2 Apple Stores, I should be able to get a 16g wifi. Honestly, I don't see huge lines. Were there for the first one?

I am gonna have my wife drop me off around 2pm.. and then she's gonna go shopping and I will just hang around apple store.. and as it nears 5pm, will send out wife to scan local bestbuy and walmart to see if there's any line.

This is NJ.. gardenstate mall.

I'll be at the same mall. Probably going around 3ish.

Is there anyone else that plans on getting there Thursday night?

If your Apple store is in a mall.. You can hide out in the food court Thursday night as the mall closes and be locked inside the mall all night, then when the mall opens you are first in line. #winning

I fixed that for you.

The REAL grammar police.

HA! But you still forgot the period!
So funny. Yesterday someone else was being sassy about grammar and I sent in a note correcting HIS mistake - it was promptly removed by the mods. Surprised these are going through, but it's funny when people feel they need to fix other people's mistakes.

I'll be going to an outdoor mall where we always wait right behind the Apple Store.

I'm going at 5:00 am, and am a little bit worried I'm gonna be beaten to first. But the night before, unless your in NYC, I wouldn't think is necessary.

I'm not in NYC but I did have to go the night before for the previous iPad in Salt Lake City, Utah. I think it'll be more crazy this year since Apple won't be taking reservations or pre-orders.

Really? I went at like 5/6 am and was fifth in line at smith haven mall on long island. I agree that it is definitely going to be more crazy, but it's going to get crazy throughout the day. I know if i personally see a line for anything new and cool, I want to get on it regardless of what it's for:p people will be walking by and be intrigued by it, where on the first launch the line ended five seconds after opening. The biggest thing I'm worried about is that people who don't really follow apple religiously are going to just know that its being released on the 11th, and automatically assume at opening which will then cause a line in the early hours. But if this is not the case, camping the night wont be necessary due to the discouraging time of release.

Decisions, decisions.

Wake up at 12:01 and place an online order and get it maybe Tuesday or wake up around 8am and head over to the Apple store and wait in line. Or will there be like 3 people there at 9am and around 20 at say 4pm so I will have waited all that time for basically no reason.

I know the iPhone4 release day lines were HUGE, I was in one. But what about the iPad 2? If we only knew.....

Taking a half day off work. I'm planning to drive by and check the line at noon, if it is already crazy then I'll jump in line. If not, I'll come back around 3pm. This is Knoxville TN so I'm not necessarily expecting craziness but I'm braced for it nonetheless. I don't usually do lines but I've lusted after this friggin thing too long. I must have one in my hands Friday night.

well i have the option to take the day off from school. and if i do that ill be there at around 12. but if i dont ill be there at 4. what do you guys think would be better?:apple:

The thing that really worries me is the availability of the model I want. With the addition of 2 color options and a 3G AT&T and a 3G Verizon we are talking 18 different models.

I mean how many can they be getting of each model? 100? 50? 20?
