iPad Pro 12" only makes sense if it comes with precision pen, 3GB or more DRAM and multiwindow multitasking otherwise just a larger size won't be enough.

Macbook Pro is too big and bulky and needs to be replaced with Macbook Air Pro with retina, Broadwell and Iris graphics as minimum with much better discrete GPU than 750m as optional.

Those are the only two I would consider in 2015.

OS X is burying itself in bugs.
iOS 7&8 are still crashy and still an eyesore.

The hardware is great and keeps improving, but the software hasn't been able to keep up for some time.

Eventually, they're going to have to quit catering 100% to sales and focus on stabilizing their existing products so we, the users, can actually get some work done. Otherwise, it's going to start reflecting in the sales anyway, when we start looking for alternatives.

Nothing to write home about in '15, except the epic sales fail of the watch. Watch this space!

I must be one of the few people who actually like Yosemite.... I have no problems with their offerings this year. Love Apple pay and my iPhone 6 Plus.

As for other hardware it's good to see that they get some competition in the Notebook area.

The Verge: Samsung beats Apple to a 12-inch fanless laptop

http://www.theverge.com/2014/12/30/7469067/samsung-ativ-book-9-2015-announced-price-release-date

I want a Retina iMac but don't want to have to pay nearly 4k for all the upgrades. 16gb should already be standard in them.

Really? an updated Thunderbolt Display isn't good enough to be mentioned?! :(
New display comes after Apple decides how to hook up 5k display; dp1.3 or TB4 and puts that output to mbp and mp. Or Apple just stops selling displays.
If there will be new Apple Display, maybe it automatically interpolates lower resolution from older macs?

I'm waiting for new AirportExpress. About time for it...

My not happening wishlist:
#1 better mac mini
#2 mp with internal expansion back
#3 video input to imac back

Blowing the iPhone up.... putting lipstick and only a few innovative features out (air drop, hand off, etc) really fails to me to be innovation at Apple.

It was another year of more of the same. Shrinking things does not count, and that's all they've done. Something new or exciting in 2015 please.

An accurate assessment.

When (and not if) the AppleWatch fails ..it will either be the wake up call or the break up for Apple as it is now. They HAVE to realise that shoving out resized iPhones is NOT innovation any more. Their only "new"product will be the doomed AppleWatch that was a solution to something nobody had a problem with.

But. Sometimes historically speaking ... Even the mighty need a reality check to realise finally ... that even they are fallible. Let Apple take the hit in 2015. Scrap the concept. Admit they have to take stock and let's be the market leaders again.

A utopia where software and technology doesn't have bugs will never exist, so stop dreaming of one.
How about a "Utopia" where the manufacturer of the self-proclaimed "Most Advanced Operating Sytem in the World" actually puts a little effort into backing up that claim.

Dissatisfied

Rally dissatisfied with the IPhone displays. Samsung Galaxy5 blows it away! Apple us relying on its name and not a quality product. I own 3 5S's , IPad Air 2, MacBook Air and several Ipad Mini's among others so I am not anti Apple by any means. Jus want leading edge products that Apple is known for!

Don't you want Tim Cook to send you his heartbeats and physical rubs on special events like your birthday?

Was this reporter being sarcastic?

The only thing of any relevance Apple released this year was the iPhone 6 and maaaaybe Yosemite if you want to be very generous.

2014 was a very, very, very poor year from an innovation standpoint.

This.

How has Apple innovated in 2014?

All they did was to catch up slightly with Android OEM's developments.

The iPad Air 2 is every bit as innovative as the iPhone 6. iPad Air 2 is by far the best iPad yet. When I went to the Apple store and held it and used it I was very impressed by the how they could make such a leap over an already great design.

I couldn't agree more. Love my iPad Air 2.

+1

Maybe 2015 will be a very good year for product releases (now that Intel is catching up).

iOS 8 was released just 3 months ago and they're testing the 7th version of iOS 8. They're not sitting on their asses doing nothing.

I bought a 128 GB 6 Plus a few weeks ago. It is seriously the best phone I've ever used. If it had 2 GB of ram, I could see myself keeping it for several years. If the 6S Plus has 2 GB, I will buy one ASAP. Not really interested in anything else other than potentially an Apple Watch.

Thanks to the iPhone 6, the iPad Air 2, the iPad mini 3, OS X Yosemite, and iOS 8, 2014 was a major year for Apple. The iPhone 6 and 6 Plus brought new screen sizes and a radical redesign, while iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite introduced deep integration between Apple's mobile and desktop operating systems.

The past year has seen an impressive display of innovation and new ideas,

Am I the only one who read that first paragraph and the bolded sentence, and then couldn't stop laughing?

We need a 17 inch Retina MBP! PLEASE!

I'd kill for that. Why is Apple into the idea of making phones so big they won't even fit in your pocket, yet a 17" retina pro is off the table? Bring it back, and with a gold option!

Sounds like they released it six versions early.

Can't anybody wait till things are buttoned up a little better? I don't want to be Apple's Beta tester.

Wow, what a bold prediction. *sarcasm*

Pretty much everything here was already rumoured over this past year, so MacRumours can link-bait it back to the original story.

One thing I like about AppleInsider over MacRumors is that they go out on a limb and add some editorial content. Yes, a bit over the top fan-boish, but at least it's new content.
