My hope is for a 5" iphone with same specs as whatever the newest model is at the moment.

I like size of my 5s
I am good with giving up a little battery to make room for extra chips or whatever.

The 4.7" iPhone isn't quite big enough?

Looking forward to what Apple do with music. Will the iPods get updated? Will iTunes get the overhaul it needs? How will Beats evolve? Etc.

I've never understood the synergy with Beats and Apple. Apple make good quality crafted products whereas Beats makes trendy but pretty poor headphones.

You wouldn't find any discerning music lover buying Beats headphones - it just doesn't happen.

...

The company is seriously jeopardizing the "It Just Works" quality of (former) Apple products, and once that public trust is lost, it takes a lot to get back.

I agree, and let's not ignore the hardware issues. My iPhone 3GS had the mute lever go on it (luckily under AppleCare still) and on my 4S the on/off button broke (not under AppleCare). I'd like to see Apple using better components!

I switched to an android phablet in the beginning of 2014... Well since then we had an iMessage-like integration between gmail/chrome/android tablets with the introduction of hangouts and google voice integration. I sent a text on break earlier and didn't get my response until I got halfway home from work and realized the text was sent "via google voice at 12:25 PM." The time was 4:45 when my phone actually received the text. I still have my iPhone 4s (gifted it to mom lol) and I know i've never had this issue with my iMessage friends. Just goes to show that Apple doesn't release half-polished features. And I can't wait until my next upgrade where I will most definitely switch back to an iPhone 6 Plus. As much as I like android, I cannot risk these errors especially if my girlfriend thinks I'm ignoring her. Shame on you google lol!

Sincerely Jim Bean!

iPhone 6S

Will keep an eye on the phone. With Apple you always seem to need to wait a cycle to get the correct product. The first product is hamstrung, while the next iteration is good.

I just got an iPad Mini 3 (my first iPad of any type), which a lot of people saw as a poor upgrade/rip off, however what I saw was the iPad Mini the way it should have been from day dot. So, I bought.

What if the iPad pro and the new 12inch Macbook are the same thing?

I've been thinking the same. I can see the point of some type of larger iPad with a proprietary keyboard accessory. I guess this would be a surface competitor?

I don't see what value a giant iPad and a 3rd MacBook Air bring. Unless they do away with the 11/13 air and present the new 12" as the "MacBook". Could make sense with the rumored color options.

2015 does sound exciting. I'll definitely be getting the Apple Watch and a new Apple TV if they do release it.

If Apple redesigns the iMac retina, I'll get that too. Otherwise I'll just wait it out. The more time passes, the more that GPU developments will be able catch up to better handle retina technology.

The iPad Pro sounds intriguing but just like the iPhone 6 Plus, the size just won't be for me. But I'll be curious to see if Apple gives the new iPad Air 3 a redesign. It seems that the iPad likes to retain it's design aesthetic for at least three generations and if this holds true, we'll probably not see a redesign until 2016.

Your comment would hold some weight if Apple wasn't renowned for selling some of the lowest quality earbuds the world has ever known. Trendy or not, Beats is a ginormous step up from Apple's earbuds.

I believe we will see a new Apple TV in 2015.

Yes granted some of Apple's tv service ambitions may need to be put on the back burner... there is no reason to not move forward with improved hardware as well as 4K/HDMI 2.0 support.

Lost interest

I'm looking forward to the 6s Plus and the watch... but I lost interest in the new AppleTV once it was announced they were working on some sort of partnership with cable companies. The whole point, for me (and probably for a lot of people), is to steer clear of cable and satellite.

I've barely touched my ATV2 since I got my hands on a Roku. It's got a lot more channels. I only bought that Roku to tide me over till Apple "revolutionized" TV. But if a cable-centric TV service is the only improvement we'll see in ATV4, I'll just stick with Roku.

As an Apple shareholder, it pains me to say that.

Sounds like a good time to seriously consider going Hackintosh desktop when Skylake releases and keep my 2012 quad Mac Mini around.

The Mac Mini future looks bleak at best.

I sold my modded mid-range 2012 Mini for $200 more thanks to Apple's decisions. Also sold my 2013 iMac for some money and was going to jump into a beastly Retina iMac but decided to sit this one out as I read reports that the m295x is struggling with heat under load. Bought a gtx 970 for my hackintosh hoping that the next iMac will also be usable as a display (will probably be 2016 though).
Wish I had a better option right now for all my 4k drone footage.
Even CNBC was making fun of Eddie Cue's 2014 product pronouncement today.

New display comes after Apple decides how to hook up 5k display; dp1.3 or TB4 and puts that output to mbp and mp. Or Apple just stops selling displays.
If there will be new Apple Display, maybe it automatically interpolates lower resolution from older macs?

I'm waiting for new AirportExpress. About time for it...

My not happening wishlist:
#1 better mac mini
#2 mp with internal expansion back
#3 video input to imac back

New Displays backward comparable...not a chance. Thunderbolt displays currently are not so older systems have to purchase a Cinema Display which still sells.

Any 4K Displays that come out cannot be backward comparable due to older hardware not able to handle it. I recently sold my Cinema Display and purchased a Thunderbolt Display because my recent purchase of quad mini 2012 will not be able to handle anything 4K or stronger. Needed a new mini and was disappointed with the new minis not having quad core.

Very happy with my new Thunderbolt Display at half the price because I sold my old Cinema Display (which is was still good for the time).

Mac mini update for 2015....not a prayer. Just updated and will be good for the target market for at least two years. Low specs on purpose to get newbies hooked and then purchase a VERY profitable for Apple iMac. Smart move and great marketing strategy. Not good for the consumer, but $ for Apple.

We on theses forums are probably to blame for Apple getting rid of the Quads...their strategy is the mini is just an intro model, but we who figured out how to save $1,000 learned that we can get the same results from a tricked out mini instead of buying the low end Mac Pro. Apple read out posts and saw that the mini was too powerful, so they lowered the specs.

How many people purchased a iMac or low end Mac Pro instead of wasting their money on the new mini? The new mini is a decent machine and is good for its target market now, BUT for those that need more power, we are forced to upgrade to a Mac Pro if we want to use our own displays. Remember, Apple makes a killing on iMacs, marking up an imac: mini plus a display.

Was this reporter being sarcastic?

The only thing of any relevance Apple released this year was the iPhone 6 and maaaaybe Yosemite if you want to be very generous.

2014 was a very, very, very poor year from an innovation standpoint.
Is this poster being sarcastic?

Apple also released a 27" iMac with a 5K display and they introduced Apple Pay, which opened an entirely new source of revenue for Apple and will play a large role in transforming the way we spend our money over the next several years.

Is it just me or is this completely yawn inducing? Maybe the only thing interesting on that list is the Macbook Air retina. And maybe the iPad Pro, which I'm convinced is not just an iPad.
