I disagree on the resell value issue. If you sell it online or to someone you'll never see, you don't have to tell them it is on there and I don't think it would be something they would initially be concerned about since you can slap a cover over it.

That is a really shady thing to do. If you did something like I promise that they'd file a claim and you'd be out an iPad and the money. You really aren't a good person.

My husband got me my iPad for my birthday and kept the engraving secret until I got it.

Engraving reads:

Thank you in advance for letting me borrow this.

This thread should be titled : funny things to engrave on your iPad.

I dont have nothing, never really thought about it, but now when i think about it , if i had it engraved it would be the same as my tattoo, and thats a musical note. I dont think it would hurt the resale value either. Maybe it could even raise the price if i would put some clever marketing over it heh.

mine is still on the way and i chose not to engrave, but if i DID, i would have put: "if you're reading this...then you're using it wrong"

I would say resale value is deterimined by how witty the engraving is, it doesn't have to impact the value if it's actually funny.

My girlfriend has her name engraved. Mine says nothing so I can sell it down the line (I sold the 2 already)

Jeez, can I have your eBay username? I'd like to avoid any future business!

What? I sure as hell know I'd be pi$$ed if I bought an iPad from someone online only to find that it had some random crap engraved on it.

I was thinking of engraving mine (ipad 2) then i thought of the all issues things.

What is there is an hardware issue, would apple accept to take it back and give me a new one?
i was thinking of putting my mom's name, then i thought silly.
What if i want to resell it one day" maybe if i have a proverb, people won't mind but a name? NO WAY. I will not buy something that has a name myself.

Conclusion: DON'T ENGRAVE!!! KEEP IT AS NATURAL AS IT WAS INTENDED.

OK I THINK I WILL ENGRAVE IT. "U MUST BE THE CHANGE U WISH 2 U IN THE WORLD"
i wonder if apple will take it back if i decide to return it within the 14 days

I quoted one of my favorite bands...

"And in the end, the love you take
is equal to the love you make."
