In my overpriced and underused handbag I have:
-Checkbook
-Wallet
-My distasteful ROCKR phone
-DS Lite with a variety of games
-iPod nano
-Sunglasses (a necessity this year)
-Burt's Bees with some other random pink gloss
-A cosmetic case full of : Hand sanitizer, hairspray, lotion, lint roller, tissues, bandaids, and toner (all are in travel size)

I don't usually carry a handbag around but if I carry stuff in my pockets its usually keys, mobile phone and Ipod. If I have to go to uni I carry my textbooks, MBP, glasses, pencil case, mobile phone, keys, ID card and usually my lunch.
other than the bare essentials, the ONLY thing I carry around everyday is my iPod, with all those movies of me & a certain person's momma, slammin & jammin in the back seat of her brand new car

I used to carry a manbag, but I lost it.
When I had it before, though, it would hold basic writing utensils, my laptop, and 'fart spray' (impromptu pranking). Winter time, add in the fuzzy earmuffs.

Let's seee here, in my bkpac (Quicksilver, manly red and grey) I have: 2 camel smokes that fell out of package; kodak 5Mp camera; one 6" piece of driftwood, a sea bean, rash guard, four emergency lighters, two half used bars of Mr. Zog's sex wax, and a whole lot of sand.

My answer is almost the same as it was a year ago, except that my cellphone and wallet are always in different pockets now, to keep my phone from wiping my swipecard for work (which I keep in my wallet).

I don't have a purse (or manbag), but in my pockets I usually carry my wallet, chewing gum and mobile phone.
If I'm going to work I also have my car keys and work's keys, plus a pen in my shirt pocket.
And sometimes I have my iPod - if I'm going shopping I find that wearing earphones stops annoying sales assistants in their tracks
