What's Next for Apple in 2014: iWatch, Larger iPhone 6, 12.9-inch iPad Pro

. So maybe get rid of a few shadows here and there, but nothing too dramatic.

Osx is hideous--from the dopey chrome bezel windows to the laughable program launch 3d tray and reflective fisher price icons. I never really liked
osx, but even people who love have to concede it looks like crap

I just want an iPad with a Stylus (I'm happy with its current size), an updated AppleTV with new UI (like iOS with Apple Store), and Mac Mini Server that is a bit bigger than the current Mini to fit at least 2 to 4 3.5in hard drives... :roll eyes: one can only wish...

Actually I was wrong. Apple developer portal has iOS 7 at 78%.

Also I have several friends who are still running iOS 6 on their iPhone. I was running it on my 3rd gen iPad right up until I sold it when I got my iPad Air. Care to explain how iOS 7 is being "forced" on people any more than iOS 6 or prior iOS updates were?

for iOS7 compatible devices in most regions, when on WiFi, Apple automatically pushed the 2 to 3.5GB download to the devices. This was not optional and did not provide any options to cancell or delete the download once it was complete.

The only way to free the used space by the download was to install iOS7.

Those who wiped their phones to clear space found they were once again forced to download the file, even if they chose not to update their devices to 7.

For many of these users there was very little choice in the matter. use iOS7 or lose space on your device.

What I'd like to see in an 12.9" iPad Pro:
-2:3 ratio at 3072x2048 resolution. That would be the same as two 8.95" portrait iPad displays side by side. DSLR image sensors are 2:3. Maybe they could even support running two apps side-by-side.

-Wacom or equivalent input.

-SD slot - don't see this happening. Ideally you'd have WiFi DSLRs that could instantly transfer the pictures.

This would be a good tablet for photography and drawing. It would be closer to paper size and resolution for PDFs.

Just keep Jony away from OS X's interface please. iOS looks completely soulless now. OS X still has that "pop" that iOS had. Please don't ruin it.

Yes. Or at least put the iOS 7 theme in OS X as an optional, extra theme so the people with bad taste can use it and shut up :)

Yeah it was. Those people had automatic updates enabled. Nobody in my family got that pushed on them, including me. Can't enable automatic updates then complain when it does its job.

Yeah it was. Those people had automatic updates enabled. Nobody in my family got that pushed on them, including me. Can't enable automatic updates then complain when it works properly.

see, my brother and Father's ipads both had it disabled. they still got the download

go do a quick search. there are a lot of people complaining about it, who do have automatica downloads disabled.

I dont know what flag Apple is using for pushing out the update, but it' seems completely arbitrary.

the only way to absolutely prevent it from downloading is to fill your iOS based device to have less than 2.5GB of free space (or around that size)

Anybody who uses the iPad in a "professional" capacity, i.e. for whom the large screen size is more important than being able to throw it in a backpack.
For example: anyone who uses iPad as a store of important documents (lawyers, engineers, doctors, architects, airplane pilots...)
This has so much truth that it's worth quoting. Those who use the iPad as a productivity tool would be really helped by a bigger iPad, assuming it has an iOS that actually fits its size (and not merely just an exact copy of the iPhone's iOS).

And the large iPad will be called the iPad Pro. This is so freaking obvious I don't know why we're even having this discussion.

But then again, this is the forum where a lot of people were claiming the iPhone 5 would have been called the iPhone 6, because you know, math

Why not ? I think it all comes down to the marketing , I remember a time when smartphones were just for people who liked to fiddle and look where we are now

Sure marketing plays a huge role in this, but think just think about it. The iPhone (and smartphones in general) appeal to the masses because it's a device that's capable of many things. You can play games on it, make calls, text friends, take amazing pictures with a phone, a great device for communication and utility for everyday life.

Smart watches, from what I've seen, are really limited. If people cannot continue to do on a smart watch what they do now on a smartphone, they won't make the change. Or am I being arrogant and ignorant here?

Whats Next?

Apple needs to change its philosophy of waiting until its usual time frame for introducing new products or releasing new updates. When the products or updates are ready, go for it. We are sick of waiting until Sept/Oct for iPhones as an example. This usually means that consumers won't get them until three months later just like this catastrophe with the iPhone 5s. Samsung and others release the products as soon as they are ready. Lets get with the program and do something "Different".

Thunderbolt Display = AppleTV

The reason there's been no Thunderbolt display update is because it's going to be "the tv". Releasing 4K displays is not much from releasing 4k displays with an AppleTV chip built in. I imagine we'll see it early next year.

I think the biggest shame is the form over function of i-products. In particular, the amazing lack of consideration for people with less than perfect eyesight. I returned my iPad Mini because it was beyond difficult to read without using glasses. This is true also of the iPhone which too likes to sport excessively small fonts.

While some may say there are special features that one can select to make some text larger, the reality is that there is no reason to have the menu screens have small fonts to the point of being just plain ridiculous. When a non Apple cell phone is easier to read at a glance than the iPad Mini and even some screens on the iPad it is quite evident Apple chose form over function.

Btw, when I returned my iPad Mini, the guy at the Apple store told me that in two days, 7 people returned theirs for exactly the same reason.

Apple makes some really wonderful products but there is no excuse for not having a feature that allows for directly changing the layout for larger text/fonts. Rather than a 4x5 matrix of icons on the main screen of the iPhone, they should opt for allowing a 3x4 and also a larger bottom bar that has less icons and larger text.

If you enjoy your iPhone and iPad as is, I am honestly happy for you. For some of us, we are not so lucky and sadly we have to look elsewhere or put on glasses to read our iPhones, then take them off when done all because of itsy bitsy fonts to look pretty and spacious on the screen real estate - sigh.

There is absolutely no freaking way Apple is going to make an iPad the same size as my feet. What the hell are people going to do with that beast? Will it come with wheels and a trailer hitch? The Smart Cover will look like the drapes in your living room and cost $200.

I just don't see the point.

The obvious home run is a bigger iphone for knocking down a big advantage that the competition has.

The bigger ipad and iWatch hold no interest for me.

How about squeeze and release to make the phone bigger on demand. Remember, you heard it here first.
