Apart from lining the stock holders pockets... What was the point of rewatching and releasing the 13" MacBook... pointless.

How is it possible that the Mac Pro with M2 Max/Ultra/Extreme will be teased this year and released by Spring if the M2 Pro and Maxes supposedly won’t be ready in the MacBook Pros until later next year? It just seems like the MacBook Pros are either set for a chip refresh later this year, or the Mac Pro won’t be released for a while.

Excess inventory.

Impossible to avoid even with just-in-time process.

So you stick a new CPU in all the excess laptop bodies.

And any extra excess you use it for refurbs and repairs.

That would be a little too much for excess inventory. They announced it as a new MBP so unlikely it was just excess stock. I mean I could be wrong but I would be very surprised.
Not ‘just’ excess. There is always going to be some minority who want to continue with the same form factor they had previously. It’s kind of like a risk management in case those old 13 inch users don’t want the new 14.

I really hope they do. I need to upgrade, and would rather get an updated machine.

He said in his latest Sunday newsletter (I searched through my email to copy and paste it):

”You should see a major bump from the new MacBook Pro and MacBook Air tucked into Q4 sales. And Apple will get more momentum from the launch of new Mac minis and high-end MacBook Pros later this year.”

If the M2 Pro’s will get the same price increase as the M2 Air’s they really have to come with a lot of added power and/or features as already mentioned. I have waited out the M1 series to avoid the seemingly non existing first generation problems, but perhaps I should jump in now….. The M1 still offers more ooomph than my current 2016 15” MBP.

OLED is nice, but they can’t properly display The color white. I own a Samsung Galaxy Tab 8 Plus and while it has a great display, next to the iPad Pro, it can’t come close to properly displaying white tones. The Galaxy Tab always a yellowish tone to the color white.

I hope they take their time on this one, I just bought the thing when it first went on proper sale. Other than the OLED display I'm perfectly happy with it. Considering the MBA M1 -> M2 "upgrade" I think I'll be just fine for a long time.

Apple has a bad habit of releasing products that are immediately doomed to the memory hole but I think the M1 14 and 16 are one of the sweet spots. At least I hope so.

One more Thunderbolt Port, HDMI 2.1 port that allows HDMI out AND in. Camera improvements, and just overall subtle improvements in cooling for the increased CPU/GPU/RAM improvements. These laptops are nearly perfect to be honest. Maybe in a few years make the trackpad able to mirror a portion of the regular display so we can use Apple Pencil to draw. Maybe have 10key in a larger 18” model or figure out a nice way to implement it into the new palm rest or trackpad also like others, but I’m still on the fence on that one. Only if they can implement it in a really good way.

I don't really see anything that needs to be done with them, other than more battery and the M2 Pro/Max chips. These laptops are kinda perfect. Maybe lowering the price would be an option?

Notice that the M2 chip in MBAir has three memory choices: 8, 16, and 24GB. One could reasonably infer that the M2 Pro could go to 48 GB and the M2 Max could go to 96 GB. The M2 Ultra could even reach 192GB of Ram.

Some people forget this is a rumor site and expect a prediction to become reality. Sometimes it’s just an educated guess or information in the moment! Geez, just wait for the products to launch if you’re going to hold every publication to that ridiculous standard!

I can’t believe how screaming fast these machines are. Moore’s Law is making a comeback… but don’t quote me… just a rumor!
