What do you think apple will release next?

Another version of OS X or will they release a completely new OS?

I think it'll be a long time before Apple moves away from Unix for its operating system. It's like asking if the next Windows will be in something other than .NET--probably not.

There's no reason why they should move from what they have now. As long as they keep making architectural improvements on what they already have, they're dressed for success. Mac OS 10.6 it is.

I'm going to bet that Apple will ride out Mac OS X for a while, so we'll probably see 10.6 and maybe even 10.7. They've got a great thing going for them, why change all over again?

They also have Lynx and cougar as registered trademarks

From wikipedia:
Mac OS X versions are named after big cats. Prior to its release, version 10.0 was code named "Cheetah" internally at Apple, and version 10.1 was code named internally as "Puma". After the immense buzz surrounding version 10.2, codenamed "Jaguar", Apple's product marketing began openly using the code name to promote the operating system. 10.3 was marketed as "Panther", and 10.4 as "Tiger". "Leopard" is the name for the current release version 10.5. "Panther", "Tiger" and "Leopard" are registered as trademarks of Apple, but "Cheetah", "Puma" and "Jaguar" have never been registered. Apple has also registered "Lynx" and "Cougar" as trademarks.[20]
Computer retailer Tiger Direct sued Apple for its use of the name "Tiger". But on May 16, 2005 a US federal court in the Southern District of Florida ruled that Apple's use does not infringe on Tiger Direct's trademark.[21]

Wirelessly posted (iPhone: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU like Mac OS X; en) AppleWebKit/420.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.0 Mobile/4A102 Safari/419.3)

10.6 Ocelot!!!

That's my vote.

Steve Jobs stated that OS X would take care of Apple 'for the next 20 years' at one of his keynotes. With that being said, he also said that people did not want to watch movies on the iPod, so take it with a grain of salt.

I heard he said 10 years is about how much longer OS X will remain their base OS.

I think Apple should show dog lovers some love, personally I'm a fan of mutts, but that doesn't sound so nice, but how about

Mac OS X Wolf
Mac OS X Fox
Mac OS X King Charles Cavalier Spaniel

Or, maybe re-invent Aqua with darker blues and go with some ocean animals:
Mac OS X Dolphin
Mac OS X Beluga
Mac OS X Swordfish
Mac OS X Marlin
