That is true to a point, but like it or not the news is presented to a targeted audience. What "feels like the truth or not the truth" to a person or a group of people is not necessarily the same to another person or group. I can twist and present the news that I want you to listen to, all based on what I already know about you. The news media (s) are nothing but influencers trying to persuade you into believing the news is completely the truth as it's being told to you. By achieving such, the news conglomerate stays in business.Although I respect this point of view, I think an informed voter needs to know what's going on domestically and around the world. There are many sources of news, and by reading a variety one can get a pretty good idea of what's going on and form an opinion.
Just to add, there has been some news in the last few days that got to me and not in a good way.
If you listen to the same news presented to you by another TV or radio station that you that for any reason you dislike, then the news is perceived by you as not being truthful or at least incorrect.
I just let my wife keep me informed since we have similar interests about all issues, and specially because she has a knack for "reading between the lines," something that I find extremely tedious.
