I, too, hate the video part. It's incredibly distracting, and to me, it takes away from the experience.
The one exception I will admit (to my own personal rule of never watching, or wishing to watch videos with music) are certain - specific - pop videos, where the song and the video are ineluctably linked in my memory.

Other than that, I prefer to savour, sample, enjoy, my music purely as an audio sensation, or experience.

Agreed! I find that if there is video, instead of really appreciating the music I am watching the performer or group and inevitably my attention becomes focused on what they are doing and how they're doing it rather than on the music being played.

I also don't have music playing all the time at home or while I'm busy doing something else (exception, of course, being when I'm driving the car). I much prefer to set aside some time, relax and just enjoy the music as an experience in its own right.

I never listen to music without video. As in like mostly only hear music when it is in a tv show or movie. Not sure why but it really the only way I can. Wish it did not have to be that way.

I’m graduated in 1980 from high school.
Totally remember the very beginning of MTV. It was so addicting for a while, stimulating all those dopamine points.

Keep in mind, I also had 100’s of vinyl albums and cassette tapes.

We’re all wired differently, you be you.
If in future listening w/o video works for you, ok.

Btw, you drive a car, so don’t listen then

Never is an absolute, 100% one way or another, not a mix, no grey, just black or white.

Me, I’ll listen to Apple Music or Spotify at home while doing other stuff.
Thats me being me.

So you have an Apple Music and Spotify account? Aren’t you just paying twice then?

Blood oranges had been kept for me by an organic fruit'n'veg stall in the market, where they informed me that they expect next week - perhaps, possibly, the following week, but with no guarantee - to be the last week when they will have them in stock for this season.

I intend to gorge myself on blood oranges this coming week; a veritable ray of sunshine in a glass.......

That concert today was honestly kind of a mess for many reasons. I don’t think I played particularly well, and there were logistical issues that I didn’t know about until sound check. The soloist whose recital it was played really well, though, and I’m happy for him. Onto the next one tomorrow. And then 9 more after that in the next two weeks, including my own recital next weekend.

Spring is around the corner, and I can't wait. The past day or two, I've been hearing morning doves, a nice sign things are slowly stirring. I also saw a squirrel running about yesterday - I felt bad for him, given that everything is still buried in snow.

Waiting for that telltale sign of spring - the robin

Nope wrong again. THIS is a genuine Robin! This one lives in our garden.

There seems to be snow in the forecast this morning, which seems odd, since temps are around 36 currently. I'm hoping we'll have more sunlight to melt the snow - the snow piles in everyone's front yards are largely 5' high, so it will take some significant temps to shrink those bad boys down.

Why? That seems odd

Regardless I'm waiting to see them show up, if the snow keeps retreating, we'll hopefully start seeing our lawns.
Just because they are different I suppose.

Here the Robin is around all year. Soon he’ll being a mate to the feeder and do a little dance for her (as he does every year). Then with luck we will have baby robins in a few months.

Visited Decent Brother and enjoyed a terrific chat, and a delicious chicken curry (cooked by him), accompanied by - washed down by - a light Belgian beer.

I have meetings to attend tomorrow, - which is what prompted my trip - but I also took advantage of my visit to give him his belated Christmas present (a black merino wool turtleneck sweater), and sundry other stuff (a bottle of award winning wine from Moldova, gravadlax, and some of the best treacle brown bread - collected earlier where I had ordered it in advance from the medieval pub where it is baked daily - I have ever had the pleasure of consuming).

Just reserved classrooms for chamber music rehearsals for the rest of the term (the next two weeks). This means that my collaborators and I will never have to count on a practice room being open in order to rehearse - that's been an issue the last two times. I am relieved.

As for whether or not to havevideo with music...

There is an argument that some music is intended to come with something visual going on, like opera. Indeed, I remember someone who commented in IIRC a letter to the editor of an audiophile magazine about having few or no opera records, because they only had part of the experience.

Past this, I find it easier dealing with poor recordings or poor audio equipment if there is some video involved. I never cared about missing video with even a merely OK record played on a budget (but decent) system. But it helps me when playing a YouTube video through my computer speakers.

Metereological spring has arrived here in the US. (It starts earlier than the regular calendar spring. Supposedly this helps with stuff like consistent record keeping, since the calendar start will vary year to year.) Many years, I'm tired of winter by this point, so I welcome a March 1st start of spring. Even though I might resist recognizing December 1st as the start of winter, which I should do if I consider March 1st the start of spring. Instead, I'll be inconsistent, as I try to avoid winter as long as possible...

Edit: clarify dates.
