A dark, dreary, dismal day, lashing rain, what seems like a reversion to winter conditions with indoor lights on early.

Ugh.

But, there are daffodils. And blood oranges.
Really cold, dark, and gray here, too. I'm in rehearsals literally all weekend (playing on like 20 concerts in the next two months). It's a lot but the concerts are going to be fun.

My (freshly squeezed, by me) breakfast citrus juice comprised one lemon, one standard orange and two blood oranges this morning - sunshine in a glass.
The village idiot (AKA WriteNow) wonders if this is straight juice, no sugar added. That is, can the oranges alone tame the lemon.

Yes, this is straight juice.

Straight juice, nothing added, - least of all sugar - apart from, occasionally, a little sparkling water.

Yes, the oranges can, and do, "tame" the lemon, but, some mornings, I will simply juice two or three lemons and add some sparkling water to that beverage before drinking it.

However, most mornings, my morning juice is a mix of grapefruit, various oranges, and a lemon.

Today, as I was able to obtain a large number of blood oranges yesterday at the farmers' market, my morning (well, afternoon) freshly squeezed citrus juice took the form of four oranges, two blood oranges and two ordinary oranges.

I don't have what is referred to - in my part of the world - as "a sweet tooth".

No daffodils here , looking at far too much snow over the next 24 hours . No blood oranges either , but really good navel oranges have appeared over the last 2 weeks or so .

I blame Aldi for my current addiction.

These are scrumptious, addictive, absolutely moreish. Complete with little bits of mild ginger that get caught in your teeth that you can taste for hours after.

On my mind is buying a hybrid/fitness bike tomorrow (before the summer makes them scarce), and looking forward to enjoyable riding in eventual warm weather, which is sorely missed.

I hate to bring this back up - but I just had a rehearsal with this same individual who was being very difficult on our recent trip. We have this little rehearsal every Monday evening. The way this was supposed to work is that we played for each other and gave feedback. He was on his phone the whole time I played, while I devoted all my attention to him, including following the score, when he played for me - if that tells you anything. I also gave detailed feedback on his performance, in terms of dynamics, articulation/phrasing, and general pace - while he said nothing in response to mine. It was absurd. I am going to request not working with him next term (we were assigned together this term, so not much can be done now - in plus, we're almost to the end of the term anyway). This is pretty much how every Monday evening with this guy goes. I just got so, so sick of it today, that I just packed up and left. I was nice about it, but I've had enough.

Only upside is we were in a classroom I've actually never been into in my entire three years at this school, it's kind of backed into a corner of the building. They've got a really nice Steinway piano in there. That may be a future new practice spot for me.

My bike purchase today was a Trek FX 3 Gen 4, currently at a good sale price. In Galactic Grey size medium. Very comfortable and not overly aggressive road positioning. More hybrid and causal. The entire FX series is excellent and well-rated. A departure for me from Specialized.

Greatly enjoyed a freshly made (real) coffee and a freshly squeezed (by me) citrus juice (which comprised one pink grapefruit, one lemon, one blood orange and one ordinary orange) earlier today. Sunshine in liquid form......

Grey, rainy, miserable day in which I travelled to Boise, ID with my daughter (approx. 2.5 hour drive) so she could visit the St. Lukes Cancer Center to receive her chemotherapy. The good part is that we take Medical Transport so neither of us has to drive. My daughter slept and I reminisced on old Rod McKuen poetry from the 70s on my phone.

It's obviously never a "fun" trip, but the good part is that her cancer is in remission and we only have to make the trip once a month instead of once a week. 🙂

Hopefully one day soon you’ll be done with these trips altogether. Best of luck with it for both of you.

Pleased to report I found blood oranges @Scepticalscribe at the local supermarket and had a nice breakfast. Now to head out for a break for some vitamin D.
I am delighted for you.

No other oranges come close to blood oranges for that intense taste sensation, (almost approaching raspberry, at times), not to mention the glorious colour and texture of the fruit.

Actually, I have served them in a salad, (a sort of starter salad, or snack), with Parma ham, cherry tomatoes, and rocket........divine.

This morning, my morning citrus juice comprised three blood oranges (squeezed by your humble scribe).

Sunny most of the day here. Daffodils out, cherry blossom appearing.
Definitely feels more Spring like. Not before time….
No cherry blossom (which I love) sighted yet, but I am revelling in the golden glory of daffodils.

I had an awful nightmare about the recital I'm giving next weekend. In the dream, everyone left by the time I finished the program. I searched around the whole campus (which in the dream was at least three times bigger than it actually is) to find all the people who I thought attended, and no one was around. Worst of all, the one person who I did find just passed by me and said that "classical music is the only good music" (I'm playing a jazz recital in actuality). OUCH! I hope none of that happens in real life!

Those nightmares can be rather trying.

In other words, your music is so powerful that induces people to action, and it even makes clearer who among us is an idiot (if anyone says that only genre X is good, then they are an idiot by default).

Have fun next weekend. You do it for you.

Not like this is going to do anything (I don't know, it might) - but I invited the maximum number of people to the Facebook Event for it. I have like 1500 Facebook “friends” so I think it automatically just did the 450 most interacted with or something. Since it'll be webcast, anyone can watch from anywhere, so figured I'd do that for people back home and such.

I never listen to music without video. As in like mostly only hear music when it is in a tv show or movie. Not sure why but it really the only way I can. Wish it did not have to be that way.

Not when walking, running or in the car? Probably when I listen the most.
Or cooking with Mrs AFB. Sadly it’s often her choice then!

Well, for what it is worth, I never (well, almost never) listen to music with video: I prefer to enjoy, to savour, the pure audio experience and tend to dislike visual distraction.
