Artemis II !!!
Good luck crew.

I have been having a pain in one heel. Not gout, as it didn't respond to gout medicine.
Went to the doctor, waited long enough to read a good chunk of the current book on my iPhone.
The diagnosis? Plantar fasciitis, aka heel spurs. The prescription? Take two ibuprofen and don't call me in the morning.
The good news? At least I am now ineligible for conscription.

There's special insoles you can get to help with that. I don't know why they brushed it off because it's a common issue. Really makes you doubt the "care" in Healthcare sometimes.

Just watched the successful launch of the Artemis II, to the moon. So cool to watch the two boosters successfully separate from the main rocket and fall away.
I worked on the “Reusable Solid Rocket Motors”, or RSRMs, for the Space Shuttle program for two years when I worked up at Thiokol from ‘97-‘99. Northrop-Grumman bought out Thiokol a few years ago, and the new solid boosters on the Artemis II (the two long, white rockets strapped to the main rocket) are RSRMs with, I believe, two extra sections in the stack, making them a bit longer. The RSRM sections were built/poured here in Promontory, Utah, so they could ship via rail (with some curved train tunnels thru the mountains) to Florida; at Kennedy Space Center, those sections are then assembled into the full booster rocket. That was an interesting period, and anxious to see how this next period of space travel unfolds…

This. Plantar Fasciitis is not bone spurs. Insoles/better shoes will help, along with hot/cold compresses on the arch of your foot (I popped a couple of soda cans into the freezer for a bit, then rolled them under the arches of my feet, and then switched to standing on a heating pad, during the news. Took a few months but my feet did eventually heal (no pun intended) but I can’t run anymore, that’ll just flair it back up.

I’ve had that. Yes the insoles help (a bit). Best fix is regular stretching.
Stand on a curb (or similar) on your toes, and lower your heels up and down. Hamstring stretches as well assisted me.

Yes, I have been given that advice. Have started to follow it.

The best thing I had, some decades ago when playing tennis (very badly) with friends woke up my heel spurs was wearing Dunlop KT shoes. They had a special heel design that had a 250 msec heel strike, compared to 20 msec for most casual shoes. They cost about $20 a pair and lasted about 6 months, but were cheap compared to the alternative special orthotic shoes. Sadly, they are no longer available, except for 'pre-loved' on eBay, at about $160.

Back pain is getting much worse. I was almost in tears today. On the brink of trying medical marijuana as a last ditch effort for pain relief since I'm apparently "too young for back surgery" (even though I had it done in 2020). It's killing me as I type this, so Thank God I bought a laptop.

Consider me jealous.
Well, work was long and tedious; I had hoped that it would have been finished by 14.00-15.00, but no, we didn't finish up (writing and submitting several reports, responding to queries and requests for clarification, information and yet more verification from those to whom we report) until just after 17.30, and my massage - my driver drove me there - was scheduled for 18.00.

We had a terse email exchange this afternoon where I remarked - among other things - that (by scheduling three hour Zoom meetings - we have three this coming week, and they are all too casually conducted, invariably running over schedule; last week featured a four hour horror, a test of endurance and patience, not to mention restraint) that our time - which is tight - is not respected.

Anyway, the massage was wonderful, - my assistant was terrifically dedicated in finding someone who could squeeze me in on the Saturday of the Easter break - and I have now opened a bottle of wine.

Red or white? Either way enjoy. Here washing up is done and I’ve just finished my last tea of the day.

Storm David is blowing outside. Probably take the last of the cherry tree blossom.
The ornamental pear tree blossom has long since gone.

My assistant produced a bunch of daffodils again today; they are now in a vase, (supplied by the hotel), on my desk, in my room.

Glorious. Divine. Gorgeous.

Are you able to get BBCiplayer where you are?
I am not a masochist.

Just a (frustrated, fuming) supporter.....

So, no.

And, oddly, the selection of TV channels available here is......not what I might have expected.
Just watching the Arsenal game against Southampton.
Elsewhere, the verb you used (at which I shuddered, perhaps superstitiously), suggested that Arsenal would "brush aside" Southampton.

These days, I wouldn't trust them to win a game of Tiddlywinks.

It is the night of Holy Saturday, approaching one of the great Church festivals, and church bells are pealing, are ringing out, in a glorious cascading sound, all across the city.

Dave, David, David. One of those! I know it’s bloody windy.
I only correct you as I am a Dave...or David? Funny but my Dad is the only one who calls me Dave (and all friends and work colleagues). My Mum, 3 brothers and sister call me David. Anyway, I'm claiming the storm so there. 😎

Daylight Savings has ended.
All clocks changed except Kitty Tummy Time (<- see left). She is complaining to management that luncheon is an hour late. And doing this an hour before she should even start. So, two hours to go, with constant moaning.

Does anybody want a kitty? Happy to put her in a postage box and send anywhere in the world.
Except Svalbard, where they have been banned for some years. Apparently they frighten the polar bears...

It is Easter Sunday, my first free day in weeks, in almost a month, and the sun is shining, while church bells were pealing out joyfully, earlier this morning.

There are daffodils blooming outside, their bright golden yellow a blessing and a boon. There are also some daffodils - their centre a glorious gold, a shade between apricot, ochre and orange, fringed by bright yellow leaves, in a lovely vase, on my desk.

Tulips, too, are in abundance, as is cherry blossom, while the trees are busily putting forth green shoots. And all of this is in the centre of an old university city.

I shall head out shortly to see whether I can find a coffee shop that is open.

Happy Easter, Palm Sunday for me and other Orthodox Christians! It's 22 degrees today so no more sweater or winter coats!!! Went to the historic Russian Church in Geneva Old town today (the Greek one is rather far out and I don't have a car - buses are infrequent) then coffee and a pain au chocolate in the Old Town square. Will head out again shortly!
