Cadbury cream eggs are too sweet for me.
I've started feeling that way, too. Although I don't know if it's changing tastes or that they have changed. Past this, they don't fit well for my vision of a healthy diet.

This fits a sad larger picture of having had to move on from a lot of the stuff I remember eating when young.

Past commercial products, I don't think there is anytvhing left that my mother made that I ever make exactly the same. Part is health goals, although part is also my laziness in the kitchen.

We don’t eat anything my Mother (although more often Father made as a child). Every meal came with potatoes when I was a kid. Mostly grown in the garden. Here Mrs AFB can’t eat them do we don’t buy any.

I do miss her cheesecake she used to make. It was a lot nicer than any shop brought one I’ve had.

And I seem to recall that you mentioned Mrs AFB's amazing lasagne; a cousin of my mother, - who had studied in France, and who was very familiar with Italy - used to make the most divine lasagne whenever she stayed with us; between shopping, prep, and cooking, it took her more than a full afternoon, listening to Ennio Morricone while she worked; she would prepare a batch of this insanely delicious lasagne, the surplus heading to the freezer......

Actually, I have never had lasagne anywhere else (even good restaurants) that tasted anything like hers......

Here in the US, public transit is bad in rural areas--but also in many cities. It is said to be good in some large cities, but elsewhere...

During the 1970s my parents went from two cars to one. It worked better for my father to use the bus. Then, we moved to a new city. My father planned to continue using the bus. He got an ugly lesson the first day that service wasn't as good,
when he missed a bus and had to wait an hour.

One thing I keep noting is that there is always talk in my area about the benefits of using the bus. But there is the problem that the service needs to be good to get more to use it. But the agencies won't increase service because of ridership is too low. And because service isn't improving, people stick with cars. And so the cycle continues...

It's interesting that I've casually known a number of bus drivers. All drove to work in a private car. One considered going carless after retiring, but--even with a house near a good line--de. Cided to keep the car.

Gawd I need to take a break. I actually have gotten angry online, not at people defending vile political views or actions though it is kind of linked but at toxicity in fandom. Figure skating fandom can you believe it? I should not be surprised at all the toxicity in various entertainment fandoms, be it anime, TV shows fo franchises like Star Wars/Star Trek/Doctor Who and in sports with different teams but in skating it can take the form of attacks on individual skaters. 🙁🙁

Cadbury "creme" eggs have always been too sweet.

(I believe it's written "creme" as there's no actual cream in them.)

As a kid, something too sweet is still tasty and fun. As an adult it's horrid and I've not liked them since I was in my mid teens.

The US version is different, Kraft (UK) vs Hersheys (US), but ingredients seem similar apart from corn syrup which isn't used in the UK.

You have a good memory! It’s been years since she made one. She can’t eat it anymore, so it’s a lot of effort for one.

Agreed. Even as a kid I found them too sweet.

This forum is one of the few online communities I'm still in. I had my moment of being in a dozen online communities, because I needed to learn what I can tolerate, and I just couldn't do it. I've recently deleted my Instagram account (keeping Facebook around though, as I mainly use it for professional purposes). LinkedIn I still have though I visit it maybe once or twice a year to update it.

Also, this is the first time I have ever come across "Cadbury Cream Eggs" - never heard of them before you guys mentioned it, let alone eaten them. I can take really sweet foods, though only in small quantities at a time.

It's milk chocolate full of sugar filled with more sugar, there are better chocolate eggs, both milk and dark chocolate.

True but trashing an individual, in this case a young woman athlete who of course I don't know personally, both for her personal actions (not her athletic performance that can be debated) as well as generally some of the gross sexist comments women both celebrities and normies have to put up with is too much. This case was from other women as it happens.

I can personally attest to bad public transit in the U.S. My hometown used to have quite a decent bus system, until it was destroyed by the new "Rapid Transit" system, which completely - and I mean COMPLETELY - ruined it. I used to be able to get all across town on the bus until about 5 years ago when this new "Rapid Transit" system went in. It is unusable now. The system ended up closing tons of businesses along the main road too as a secondary consequence.

In cities like Chicago, or presumably New York (though I haven't visited there in 15 years), the subway/rail system is quite developed. When I was in Chicago last December, I only used the public transit, and it was very easy. I bought a seven-day pass that gave me unlimited usage.

Gawd I need to take a break.
Amen to that.
I actually have gotten angry online,
The online environment actually encourages this, but I hear you.

I know the feeling......

These days, I have come to the realisation that I cannot abide - cannot bear to listen to, cannot stand to hear sounds that represent that precise combination of vowels and consonants - podcasts where the voices reflect the (various) accents of that continent from which they hail.

Now, yes, I will (still) willingly read the transcripts of such podcasts; but I cannot - and will not - listen to them, that is, not by choice (coercion and compulsion are different matters): My ears rebel and twitch in a fury of frustrated agitation - and not even when they are saying (and writing) stuff with which I am in (complete, or partial) agreement.

Some of us remain mystified by places where - inexplicably - the month precedes the day.
Meanwhile, I'm sure many Americans are puzzled by doing date before the month!

It comes down to what you're used to...

I do month first, although day first doesn't seem too odd to my eyes, since that was my father's approach. I can't remember for certain, although I think my mother did month first.

Recently, I've been wishing half I did year first when putting dates as part of computer document names, since a sort by name wold put similar documents in chronological order.

The chipmunks here have strong arms. River rock is used here as a sort of mulch in a decent sized border from the walls to the lawn and these little critters lift and fling these rocks around like Caledonians, looking to refill their cache after the long winter. I think I'll keep my distance.

When I name files or folders on the computer, I go year, month, day. Otherwise, I write dates, and am used to seeing dates, as month, day, year.
Some day - or, expressed another way, one with which I am familiar - yes, some yes, day, month, year, - I may tire of writing that I am not American, never wanted to be American, have never lived there, and have never (despite travelling in, and working in, three continents) wished to visit the place, feelings that have inexplicably intensified as time passes.

Ditto.

I've also heard of dandlion tea and "coffee." Neither of which I've had.

I know I've seen articles talking about theoretical dandelion tea health benefits. Of course, there seemed to be the usual waffling, like "may help" and "additional studies are needed."
I did once. Took ages to make from the roots and took forever to clean out the spice grinder I'd borrowed.

Stuff was bloody awful... Never again...
