Xmas at any time is rarely on my mind, but definitely not in June or July.

Father’s Day is in June, but that’s just another day I try to forget since we lost Miss AFB. 10 years and it still hurts more than I care to admit.

Supposedly here on Friday he'll visit, please forgive the cryptic nature of me trying (and failing, as is my wont) to weave disparate dates and timelines into a cohesive colourful cloak.

"Xmas in July" reminded me of a church where my mother and I went that had a Christmas in July at least one year. I don't remember much, except the minister talking about getting tree from another church that did the same thing, but a week earlier. He drove down the freeway with this tree, and he said other drivers could not stop staring. Hopefully, there were no crackups, although one could imagine the news story: "Major freeeway pileup caused by out-of-season Christmas tree."

Xmas in July? No, not quite.

It's very much a thing in the Blue Mountains, west of Sydney. It gets cold, sometimes snows, often black ice on roads so people unfamiliar with the area wrap their cars around trees. The large hotels try to entice lowlanders up in order to fleece them of mony

Apparently it's now called Yulefest...

I ordered some new o-rings from Pilot for my fountain pens.

Last night, they went on a trip around Sydney.

Note that the pick up place, Prestons, is only about 15 km away.

It then went to Smeaton Grange, which is only about 1.5 km away. Then it went about 30 km NE to Chullora, then 5 km E to Strathfield, then back to Chullora, then about 15 km S to Sydney South, then about 10 km NE to Alexandria, then about 40 km SW to Ingleburn, then a further 10 km SW to Narellan, where it has been picked up by a Postie and will be arriving soon. Total trip about 130 km.

If it had stayed at Smeaton Grange, it would have been picked up at about 7:30, without travelling around Greater Sydney. The cost of that trip is about 20 times the value of what's in the package...
