What’s on your mind?

So after losing my ancient floor fan and wind up alarm clock to an electrical surge, I bought another floor fan - excuse me - wind machine (Okay, the increasingly wordy names for objects and occupations are just silly).

And yet, the new name for the fan is accurate: This is definitely a wind machine  -even on the low setting- and it’s creating a cool breeze. I said to mom “If you see me hanging onto the door molding for dear life, you know the wind machine works.”

Let’s hope it behaves this nicely tomorrow through Sunday.

I'm all geared-up for the heatwave, and am very thankful right now for my A/C. 81 degrees Fahrenheit at nearly 11:00 PM is just not normal! I have a couple of small portable fans on hand in case, gawd forbid, the A/C decides that now is a nice time to conk out and take a vacation -- but am hoping I won't need to use them! I also went to the store and have laid in food and such so that I won't need to venture out for the next couple or three days, either. It's even too hot to go to the community swimming pool!

Hang in there and keep cool with that new fan -- er, "wind machine"!

Thinking of what we need to make a major store run sometime this weekend. Maybe I'll find a new gadget to buy, too.

Sounds like a Vornado fan.

AAAAAAGGGH, make it stop, make it STOP!!!!!

OK, so I was reading an article in the Washington Post about how some beach resort town in Florida is trying something a bit different to hopefully prevent homeless people from taking over and sleeping in what is apparently a quiet and deserted and prime beach area of their community each night.....

https://www.washingtonpost.com/nati...eping-waterfront-park/?utm_term=.d21302ccde4a

Rather a clever idea, thought I, reading the article.... This is a really serious situation and something does need to be done about the homeless situation, but at closer glance this solution seems rather weird and probably inappropriate in the long run. Whatever, this post is not about the increasingly desperate situation of the homeless population throughout the US, or the situation in Florida, which certainly is not trivial, but rather about that darned Baby Shark!

Now that blankety-blank annoying-as-heck song is going through my head and it won't stop!!!!!

“Baby shark, doo doo doo doo doo doo

“Baby shark, doo doo doo doo doo doo

"Baby shark, doo doo doo doo doo do......"

AIEEEEEE!!

Warning: if by any chance you have not actually heard this song, do not, I repeat, DO NOT decide to just check it out by running a Google and finding a site where you can listen. Seriously. Do not do it. You have been warned! This thing is an incredibly persistent ear worm that once heard, never really seems to leave....an earworm that is the Mother of all earworms!!!!! Even reading the printed words can evoke the darned song with its inane repetitive lyrics and its deceptively simple melody chasing itself around and around and around in your head.....

You have been warned. Apologies to those who, in reading this post and those lyrics, are now also experiencing a reprise of That Song in their own heads...... Now I need to go try and cleanse my ears and my brain by playing some nice classical music or some hard rock or something that will erase this thing!
Never heard of that song. Don’t think I want to!
[doublepost=1563516650][/doublepost]My second day off this week that I’ve woken to the sound of rain.
At least I won’t have to water the garden!

Tell me more about this wind machine.

It's officially my least favorite part of year and the worst part of summer -- when it stays in the 80s all night long. I've thought about getting something that could create some serious airflow.

Is this a migraine, or a "normal" (but yet unpleasant) headache?

Rest, fluids, possibly retire to a darkened room, and perhaps something to deal with the pain, aspirin, ibuprofen or some such, all may serve to alleviate the pain.

In this case just a regular headache. Almost gone. I think that I was dehydrated as I probably didn’t drink enough water after the gym yesterday evening.

That’ll do it.

Still raining here. Although the thunder never materialised.
Wearing my fleece in the house as it’s cold today.

Yes, dehydration will certainly trigger a headache.

Plenty of fluids is the obvious remedy.

When it rains in summer in our northern latitudes, it can become cool - or even cold - quite quickly.

It's not the heat that is so much the problem, it's the humidity...... When the humidity is high that really affects the overall heat index and how things feel. It's 96 degrees Fahrenheit out there right now and the heat index makes it seem more like close to 100 degrees. Not pleasant!

Hope the AC is working.

I dislike the summer for this exact reason.

It's a large floor wind machine fan by Lasko (they call it a wind machine fan). Very lightweight, handle built into the top. Has three speeds (the on / off / settings dial is on the back of the fan).

Agreed.

Not a fan (all puns intended) of heat plus humidity.
