Scheming out details for a trip down to the city and to maybe catch one of the Shakespeare in the Park offerings, they're doing Coriolanus for the first time in a long while... seems quite timely, all things considered :D.. Someone must owe me a free crash on their floor in late July, early August.. hellish time to visit the city in general but the parks are wonderful with lots of events scheduled, and the Shakespeare performances in the Delacorte in Central Park are such fun. As an expatriate so to speak, I'm no longer a regular contributor to the Public Theater.. always have to line up alternative plans due to highly limited same-day ticket availability and possibility of a total rainout, but "something else to do" is never a problem in NYC anyway.

Killed three mosquito by hand today. Caught them right out of the air. Either they were lazy or my reflexes get better as I age. Yeah, that's it.

I don’t feel so. He’s a decent person and has done much for that village.

Cats are weird. One of my cats often stays outside and stares down a cat owned by a neighbor. For some unknown reason they fight every day, stare down at each other for hours at a time, and try not to share anything despite living in a spacious neighborhood in which they could share square miles of territory without any problem. The other night I found them staring at each other on my front yard. Neither of them acknowledged me. They were about 10 feet apart. Out of the blue, this huge possum just walks in front of them and then stops. Neither of them acknowledged it, blinked, or even tried to chase him away. Finally the possum decided to walk back in the house's direction. I mean, two cats... and they were completely useless.

Possibly dominance issues. (On the part of both cats).

To me cats always come across as stoned.

If ever an animal was not stoned, it is a cat.

Yes, they give the impression of Zen tranquillity, and zoning out while in pursuit of warmth, heat and comfort. And food.

But, for calculating, applied, focussed intelligence, endless patience and the impressive skills of an accomplished assassin, you will look long and hard before you find any creature more naturally talented than a cat.

I agree. Cats can quickly move from Zen mode to deadly assassin mode, and then go back to Zen mode as if nothing happened. They're like monk warriors in a role playing game.

Monk warriors?

What an excellent analogy.

When I grow up, I want to be a monk warrior.

However, that splendid analogy might not apply to those semi-feral tomcats out on nocturnal prowling and possibly romantic expeditions - inexplicably, for some strange reason, Nanny Ogg's cat Greebo comes to mind as I write these lines.

at the airport right now.
I got further evidence that the ability of the drivers on the road is directly proportional to the distance from the airport.

I don't like social media. I certainly dislike people who make pages for their pet(s). Apparently that is a thing.

More often than not, though, the pets are more interesting than the people showcasing said pets. It's the anthropomorphizing of those pets that's distasteful, in my opinion.

Right now the shooting that happened just a couple of hours ago not that far from where I live is on my mind. The fact that I walked right past the spot about twenty minutes before it happened, in particular, and the fact that it's still pretty uncommon for such things to happen here at all. It's a crazy world out there, and not always in a good way.

I would only approve of such pages if the pet's owner caretaker companion had taught the pet how to use the internet, so the pet could make its own page. Now that would be an interesting thing.

Agree. I don’t do social media either.
I don’t much do social in the real world either!

Stay safe. The world isn’t as safe as it once was.

But if they did who would own the copyright on the photos?

Thanks, will do.

Apparently the incident is now being investigated as an attempted triple homicide, which is even more bizarre. Scuffles between rival criminal outfits happen every now and again, but this was apparently something else entirely. Luckily it seems no one actually died, so there's that.

Crazy stuff.
