ROTFLMAO @decafjava you passed the exam.
The poster doesn't know that you live in the same city as Delon. ;)

To the OP: there are historical reasons. In those times (60s, 70s) it was not easy for the European movies to penetrate the US movie industry and market, especially not for the French ones.
Yea, never met him though, he is still in a hospital here recovering from a stroke in June.

Many congratulations to @yaxomoxay best of luck with that promotion.

So, good news:

I was told by the founder of the company I work for, I do not have to ask for time off (since I pretty much make up it anyway), just to alert everyone what my schedule will be. :)

Helping mom with her Physical Therapy exercises and bills.

Fun: Fave Marvel character got a tv series green light (Moon Knight), and Ewan McGregor is coming back as Obi-Wan Kenobi for a series as well (Have to eat my words about streaming since these will both be on Disney+).

I hope everyone is doing fine (I am ridiculously busy and not here as much to participate in this thread).
:)

Good luck with work, (and very good that they are being so flexible), your mother's issues (my sympathy, and empathy - been there, done that, and have bought several of the t-shirts), and do make sure you can enjoy whatever art form gives you pleasure.

Many Thanks. :) I hope you are well too.

I truly hope that mom gets some kind of diagnosis for the endocrine issues tomorrow.

I need to enjoy the entertainment that gives me joy. BTW the rude neighbors, mom, the jobs, the stress of those things, and my nearly dying last year, I have to start giving back to me. Also accepting some things. There's been a lot of change in the last two years, it's been hard to accept on some levels. If I do accept them, that's a good thing I can give myself too.

The thing is, with those issues, (especially your mother's ill health, and your caring responsibilities), firstly, you will have far more resilience than you think possible. Stuff that would have been inconceivable a few years earlier becomes a sort of "new normal".

Secondly, you do learn to prioritise, and you will find that what is important stands out in stark contrast to the trivial. You will have no time, or energy (or interest) in - or tolerance for - processing, or speculating about, or thinking about the trivia; preserving your own energy, batteries, and sanity will compel you to discard or jettison such a perspective and those whose lives revolve around the contemplation of such perspectives.

Thus, you will learn to discard the trivial - and also discard the sort of people whose lives are wrapped up in this; you life becomes super focused on the Big Things: Life, Death, Ill-Heath, and how best to deal with it.

So, you will adapt and learn, and ultimately, you will change, too, not least because you will have no choice but to change if you are to cope.

Good luck with this journey (from one who has travelled many miles in my moccasins on that path, or a strikingly similar one).

A upside down banana split.

LOL I approximated that by mistake earlier this summer one afternoon when talking on the phone and trying to construct a regular banana split. Shrug: I told myself it all ends up in the same place anyway. :D

On my mind: here it seems we've arrived at the pivot-point of needing to have two outfits lined up from which to pick on a given day. The change of seasons is upon us, and even the weatherman's best guess is not always what happens. I left my windows open the other night to catch a breeze after nightfall when it was still in the high 70s.. and woke up in the morning to a house registering 45ºF.

A leaking toilet.

Leaking at the base, that is. As a result, a portion of the floor will have to be replaced. Good times.

Funny thing is, my SO and I had already been discussing a bathroom remodel. That project (at least this part of it) has now moved very close to the top of the lengthy priority list.

We will likely go the DIY route, rather than using a contractor. The tools and skills are on hand, albeit a bit rusty.

Fortunately there is more than one bathroom in the house. So when the two week project turns into a three month project , we’ll still have indoor plumbing.

Sigh.

Wait, he's not real? This could ruin my week!

Well I'm back to wondering what bionic or otherwise critters acted out some crisis on my deck last night. A bucket of potting soil, some trowels and flowerpots are scattered around in the walkway waiting for me to broom up the mess... And then it's off to replace the gettin'-sloppy slam-latch that must have let a little breeze serve as doorman for the uninvited guests. At least my checks through all the nooks and shelves out there this morning didn't reveal that any critters have booked a longer stay. Whatever this place has become over the years, I've yet to regard it as a bed-and-breakfast.

I did one year have to replace part of the door when the cat who eventually became my PorchKitty decided that screen doors were no impediment to a stop at what she apparently thought was a diner. The mess left by these visitors looks more like maybe a couple chipmunks or squirrels looking for flower bulbs had stopped in. No way I'd leave tulip bulbs out there, that would be like putting up an "All You Can Eat!" sign.
