Strange. I never use the drag feature. Probably because of the way my brain works. Just typed this post that way and took me twice as long.
One thing that may not be apparent is that when you finish a word and start a second word a space is auto inserted. Once used to it, it feels natural, at least to me and I feel like I’m saving about 20% energy with hitting the wrong keys and having to correct. :)

I'm a terrible typer. But I put that down to struggling to spell the actual word!

Gorgeous.

And long-haired cats are stunning as adults.

Details, please: How old, what name, what breed, what gender, etc.?

female, she’s about three weeks old, we rescued her from the shelter. Our other four cats are not amused, but they will deal with it. Her name is εὐδαιμονία.

Well done re the shelter.

Three weeks? That is very young, considerably younger than a cat would be, if it were weaned by its mother.

What breed?

While I read Russian (painstakingly and slowly), I must confess that I don't read Greek (although I did study Latin for three years in school, at second level).

Anyway, I have small doubt that the other cats will (eventually, even if they stoop to attempts at snubbing, or ignoring her outright) learn to deal with it.

She's very young indeed; it seems that her mom is dead, but she's in fairly good shape. She was definitely hungry as she ate probably twice her weight yesterday. So far she's incredibly playful, which is NOT a good thing as she's also not afraid of humans or the other cats...

Her name, Eudaimonia, means happiness, or bliss if you want. It's the ultimate goal of Stoicism, or Hellenistic philosophy in general. Considering how active she is already, I'd say that the name is correct.

The two oldest cats snub her, they look at her like "jeez, another one of these things", while the two youngest cats are incredibly jealous and hiss at her even at a distance.

And all the marks of a 3-a.m. drape climber!

Looks like you got this right... I am not entirely happy about it...

Congratulations!!

Thanks!!

Thanks!!

She looks amazing, and delighted to learn that she is lively, curious, playful, fearless.......sounds as though you will have a lot of fun with her.

using the internet taught me: Response speed > maximum internet speed

There is only one forum/community that I know online that you mostly get responses to help within a few seconds or 2 minutes or less even in middle of the night.

This is not the one. I am worried to even say which one it is.

I mentioned it text swiping, Apple’s QuickPath to @LizKat a couple days ago and after enabling it on my iPad, quickly became a convert.

It does two things, the floating keyboard is much more compact and reduces my mis-hit typing when using the full size keyboard because I tend to look at the type, using peripheral vision for the keyboard. Now I look at the keyboard but it requires less physical hand/arm movement to type. And although swiping may feel unnatural at first, I acclimated to it quite fast.

I also noticed that some words pop up capitalized and sometimes the un-capitalized version of the word will be an offered as an option.

Gordon Ramsay is such a phony. On the first episode of Kitchen Nightmare he would describe contestant food as "disgusting" and "dog food". On the 4th episode(4 hours later) the dish is delicious. In the finale world famous chefs like Wolfgang Puck would be impressed by the contestant dishes.

But hey, for half of what he is making, I too would describe other people's cooking as "dog food".

I can’t watch Gordon Ramsey on the US versions of his shows. It’s not necessarily him but the way it’s filmed. Dramatic atmospheric music, knife sharpening sound effects, sudden zooming at people, I mean what is that about?! It seems to be a theme too across American reality TV shows to somehow create drama because they don’t trust the viewer to be able to make up their own mind. Why do Americans put up with this rubbish. It’s cheesy and contrived.

Ramsey’s UK versions are much more watchable and less staged.

My mother and I used to watch Rick Stein's food programmes - she loved the travel and culture aspects very bit as much as the food, but Ramsey never appealed.

Personally, I like the style of cooking and the recipes from both Nigel Slater and The Hairy Bikers (tasty, interesting - and, above all, doable food), but am just as happy to read them (the recipes) as to watch them.

Well, it's a show first and foremost, meant to entertain and not to train. However, remember that 4 hours later for us is actually several days (if not weeks) later for the individuals. I also think you mean either MasterChef or Hell's Kitchen.

Ramsey is an acquired taste I have to say but I don't mind him. I like the style of cooking of the people you mentioned too but I have to admit I find Nigel Slater a bit pretentious as a person sometimes lol. My gripe was more about how a good show gets Americanized with over the top editing which seems to be a pattern with many of the reality TV shows coming over from the States. Don't get me started on 'The Office', my god what did they do to that show?! A very believable fly-on-the-wall mockumentary that was turned into a silly spoof skit show. It made Ricky Gervais very rich though in comparison to the British version.

Re Slater, I love his recipes, his early books, and his weekly pieces in the Guardian/Observer. In In general, I find that they are both relatively easy to prepare, and very tasty, when prepared.

As a TV chef, I'm not sure that he has the personality to carry a show, but, in fairness, - charismatic or showbiz personalities don't really do it for me, whereas I approve of and appreciate the fact that Nigel Slater's focus is always on the food, rather than on himself.

As for the Americanisation of shows: You are preaching to the passionately converted.
