I used to smoke a pipe in the early 90s, it was nice to smoke on a break when it was freezing cold outside in the Saskatchewan winters, even the 18-wheelers I drove were cold on the inside. Wasn't hard to quit once I moved to the warmer Arizona, and I did so promptly.

I stupidly picked up cigarettes around the year 1999, silly comedy club nights we would all smoke together and I didn't think much of it unfortunately. Tried to quit every few years but failed until 2009. Haven't smoked a cigarette since then. I have smoked some Cuban cigars, but luckily I have yet to get addicted again and am very careful not to indulge in it anymore.

Seems like I have some addictive tendencies though, as once the smoking stopped the drinking started, and that's still one I struggle with today. I'm mostly quit but it is hard to resist on rough days.

Seems like job interview with my previous employer this Wednesday, as our department was unceremoniously outsourced to prior employer yesterday.

Since I worked with outsourcing company and may be the cheapest employee on the payroll, I may be rehired for present job. There is no ETA to return to the sites I worked at prior to March.

Cancelled most of my remaining vacation time.

If I vanish for awhile, this is why.

The very best of luck with it.

The two boxes of free range, organic, fresh eggs that the best stall in the farmers' market agreed to save for me - they were dropped into the cheesemonger's for me to collect, but the cheesemonger will drop them out to me later today.

That is so nice of them and him to do this! Saves you having to get a taxi or take the bus!

It also meant that I didn't have to confront the gale force winds that were forecast - and the horrid hailstones that weren't! - and, it was also exceptionally kind, not least as - with autumn drawing to a close, and winter beckoning, the hens are laying a lot less, and producing far fewer eggs, than they used to, and that particular stall, the best in the market, is usually sold out of eggs by around 9 a.m..

Anyway, the eggs have arrived, along with some Comte cheese (a door stopper of a wedge), some pâté, artisan bacon rashers, and duck confit that the cheesemonger kindly added to the brown paper bag.

Sounds like dinner is sorted then. We ate very early as Mrs AFB got confused about the time after preparing the vegetables and cooked early. So we had griddled chicken and vegetable with rice noodles at about quarter past four.

Well, that I can well imagine; after all, it is getting dark a lot earlier than it used to.

Do you have something similar to daylight savings time?

I am not looking forward to the hour change on Sunday here.

On another note, I need to fast again. It seems to be my only way to get relief from my constant pain. It's going to be far more difficult with my husband on night shift and my anxiety ramped up to an 11/10.

Sorry to hear that. Yes our clocks went back last weekend.

What’s on my mind this past week is possibly deciding on getting allergy injections. My allergies have been bad since childhood, I’ve outgrown a lot of it but now my main trigger is dust.. and since I’ve been working from home lately, it’s gotten worse.. also medication has not been helping at all and I think I’m going to pull the trigger and get allergy shots. I don’t mind needles at all, but I don’t know why I’m nervous about it. Anyone ever had to get them before or are getting them now?

If it is wise to ask for a raise in these times... I'm in IT and companies want specialized skill sets before looking at soft skills.

No I don't get them myself but I have heard some people saying it's worth it in the end for them too

@Apple fanboy's response is well worth heeding, but I wold also counsel that you take a look to see how the company is treating other employees, especially other employees in a similar situation or grade before raising this subject matter: Are they being supported, or put on short term contracts, or receiving a raise?
