I am happy to report that my fish order (prawns/shrimp, snow crab, ordinary crab, monkfish fillets, smoked salmon, gravadlax, a fish mix (white fish, red fish - such as salmon & smoked fish), and some French fish stock, plus croutons) has been delivered and thus, has arrived safely.
I guess this means no duel with haddock at 10 paces.

I am disappoint.

I shall do pretty much as I normally do, along with having a nice meal and serving myself by plating the meal in/on my Spode Christmas plates and bowls, having started the day by drinking my coffee out of a Spode mug (actually meant to do that this morning but forgot and automatically poured the coffee into my usual orange LeCreuset stoneware one. By the time I remembered how I'd intended to enjoy my coffee, it was too late today, but I'll use the Spode mug tomorrow and on Boxing Day for sure).
Post pics please. People perusing posts perhaps 'ppreciating plates.

Actually, here's a partial image of one of the plates, with some editing done, as I was experimenting yesterday after I'd gotten the dishes out of the cabinet and thought I could get something interesting, but in the end scrapped the idea.

My German sister-in-law has been on the phone for over an hour and a half, and we had an excellent conversation.

Actually, I have had a number of terrific chats today, with both brothers and now, with my sister-in-law.

Paradoxically, I have conversed more today than for days. (Or weeks).

Very pleasant, I must say.

There have also been emails......
Each to their own. The only communication I’ve had today has been on MR and another forum.
My daughter has been in my mind as she typically is this time of year. That’s why I hate it so much. Mrs AFB has been sad for weeks.

Well, yes, each to their own, but I can well imagine that your daughter must be very much on your mind; this is a time of year when families fall into focus, privately and personally.

Candidly, I'd prefer it if Decent Brother was here with me, but that is not to be.

Instead we chatted, and I'm grateful that we can do that, and have the technology at our disposal which facilitates such communication.

And, moreover, I am very mindful that my German sister-in-law lost her father (to whom she was very close) earlier this year, and was unable to attend the funeral and memorial service as Covid travel related restrictions had kicked in - she hasn't been able to travel back to Germany since then to see her mother - and also, that she had a hysterectomy late in the summer; so, to a very large extent, she has just had a year from hell.

Something wrong here.

Had a leisurely lie-in and am now waiting for the coffee to brew so I can pour it into my Christmas mug which this time I remembered to set out by the machine; enjoying my OJ from a crystal tumbler this morning, too. Once I am more awake I'll send out a few emails and texts and also later in the day will get on the phone with a few family members..... Other than that, not planning anything special for the day, although I did remember to get the shrimp out of the freezer so it can be thawing.

Weatherwise it is not a very nice day -- we had a lot of rain last night and the temperature dropped significantly so now we're in the low 30's. Brrr! Occasionally an errant snowflake drifts past the window, but we are not expecting any accumulation, thankfully.

Excellent.

Delighted to learn that the crystal (and good crockery) has been called into service

Sounds an exceedingy good plan to remember to get the shrimp out of the freezer to thaw.....

Crab and shrimp shall comprise my repast today, as well.

Enjoy the coffee and shrimp. You can keep the snow!

we have low 50‘s in southern Florida with a steady wind. While pedaling in shorts, long sleeve shirt into the wind, another cyclist was riding towrds me in winter jacket, gloves, pants. I’m guessing today is officially winter here in Naples Fl.
enjoy your day today!

I'm impressed. Delightful details, expertly executed.

Wow, that's a tongue-twister when one tries to say it quickly! Cute little guy, isn't he? Yeah, I like him, too, but not sure what he's supposed to be!

I've always loved these plates and they really are fun to use during the holiday season. I actually hate messing them up by putting food on them, though! LOL!

I just remembered that I never got the mail yesterday so am contemplating bundling up and going to the mailbox kiosk to collect whatever might be in the box. Brrrr, but the fresh air will be nice, too, and the brief walk.

I hope everyone has had a good Christmas! Did a lot of video conferencing with family and friends, not what I wanted, but you have to make do in these challenging times.

It's been nice here! Did some emailing and texting and phone calling and that worked out well..... I am not into FaceTime, Zoom or video conferencing. Aside from that, I puttered around a bit and also have been keeping an eye on my thawing shrimp. A fair amount of time today also was spent in catching up on my various forums, a couple of which I haven't visited in a while.
