American. Wife and I just spent a week in the Niagara On the Lake and Toronto area and fell in love with it.
Toronto was wonderful (I went eons ago).

Good luck @heyyitssusan

Me: Made it through the 4th round interviews, now waiting to hear from recruiting. We all like each other and I impressed them with my "thoughtful" questions. I asked all the managers, supervisors and the Sr. Director (grand poobah) questions about the role.

A scheduling mix up on Friday actually turned out to be great because I spoke to the one man in the management team alone. I noticed he was warming up to me thanks to my responses. This scheduling mix up also revealed my ability to pivot instantly and calmly, so that was great.

School: My last exam is tomorrow night. Graduation is Thursday evening.

Mom is hanging in despite the summer. It's very hard on her, and not very kind to me either.

@Apple fanboy - Glad you made it to Scotland and back a-okay.

Hope everyone here is okay.

Sending you all a big virtual hug.

My experience when hiring and actually going thru a recruitment process is the following:

Once you make it to the 3rd/4th and final round, it's just a formality and pretty much you are almost certain to be selected; few people loose it as managers have reduced the pool to just 1 applicant by that point. The decision will come down to what you did which is ask relevant questions. This is assuming no one is using nepotism.

Sounds about right. This is the second time, I’ve had more than two interviews. Thanks for your input.

@Clix Pix Thank you very much. I am feeling very confident about landing this position.

Good luck with the job. Hope it is everything you wish it to be.

Here I’m off work for the rest of the week. My legs are very sore from my hike. Hopefully they will start to feel better soon. I don’t think all those hours in the car helped the following day.

And now for something completely different.

This is a photo, not mine, of a tropical beach. I found it on a wallpapers site.
It is absolutely calm, so there is no wind, and no waves. Just gentle rippling on the water producing the slowly moving light and shade on the sand.

I have seen places like this, and it is just so peaceful and beautiful.
You get this type of weather during the wet season, when the rain stops and the sun comes out, the wind drops and everything is washed clean.

After some random advice. I have an old Herman Miller office chair at home. Got it not peanuts from my last work place when they were closing the place.
Anyway I bought a new gas cylinder for it, but I can't get the old one out! I've tried banging it with a socket wrench add in over the top, and using grips to try and twist the cylinder underneath. I took the chair apart as the guides tell you too.
I've tried WD40 too. Has anyone got any advice? It's stuck in the seat base section. I'm going to buy a large monkey wrench as that's the advice of the tool needed.

I've been following this guide:

Hope you have a nice visit with mom today @Apple fanboy

Paralegal Certification Graduation ceremony tonight: Nearly perfect GPA, so my goal of earning a certificate with honors is done.

The best part? Mom is thinking of something other than her constant pain today. She’s so proud and happy for me. I am delighted to provide a distraction for her.

It’s all very surreal.

I hope everyone is having a nice day.

Sending Big Hugs to everyone here.

Enjoy the ceremony. You’ve earned it. On my way home now. Mum was her usual self. Long day. 5 hours there, at least 6 back. Wish she lived closer!

Congratulations, Kazmac, on the paralegal certification!!! Your hard work is paying off. A certificate with honors is excellent!

What's on my mind is the outrageous energy prices here in the UK. I was paying £275 a month to British Gas, did a deal to fix the price at £350 a month for a year (prices due to go up by something like 40% in October) then this morning that from 1st August it's going up to £550!!! They can't do that can they if I've fixed the price?

Better read the fine print to determine if their action is legal.

Are you sure you're turning in the right direction? Perhaps you need to turn clockwise to loosen it. This can be the case depending on the object being worked on. Unlikely, but possible.

Hi thanks for the reply. It doesn’t spin in any particular direction. The whole thing is just inserted with no screw thread or anything, friction holds it in.
But I did manage to free it in the end. I bought a long handle 2 pound hammer and a coller gas cylinder removal two, using the both I got it out. I used a socket wrench socket on the end of the cylinder and whacked it with the hammer with the removal tool applying pressure from underneath.
