I was glad to see when I checked today's Washington Post that indeed he had the sense and the decency to resign.....whew!!!! Let's hope the replacement is someone who gets things done in a timely, expeditious manner and doesn't embarrass the country any further.

Freedom to roam might relieve pressure on parks

Scotland, where I live now, has the right to roam,

British shows often show people rambling about so the culture may be different there. Certainly would be an improvement over what we have here. I wouldn't mind returning to Scotland to ramble as it is so beautiful - all that water, mountains and green.

The problem is that everyone wants to go to the same places - they don't just go off and ramble. If you are going on vacation where do you want to go - Yellowstone to see Old Faithful, Grand Canyon, Glacier National Park, Yosemite. If you are an international traveler on vacation those are the places many want to see. Was flying over Yosemite one time and I pointed it out to my seatmate from overseas. "I'm going to go there next week".

Even worse is that 90% of the people who go to Yosemite never get farther than .1 mile from the road. The park may be over a million square miles in size but even the dedicated hikers have to get permits for the backcountry, such as the ascent of Half Dome. Unfortunately people are not content to just walk through forests or deserts (not a great thing in the summer) - they want to see specific things or do specific things - such as climbing El Capitan.

...
Scotland is beautiful. When my ex and I came to Scotland we thought we'd stay for 2-3 years. It's thirty years later and I have spent half my life here. Mind you, we are experiencing a high pressure system parked over us, so we have blue skies, sunshine, 80°F and the greenery isn't so green just now. Where I live some homeowners are actually watering their lawns, but that might stop because water supplies are getting low and there might be a hosepipe ban.

And some great news here:

🥳🥳I am now employed by the firm I interviewed with multiple times. Start later this month.🥳🥳

Happy Sunday everyone.🤗 Thanks for the ongoing support, well wishes.

I’m sure it will make the rest of the month so much better!

I traveled from England to my home state of Oregon for the World Track Championships in Eugene, Oregon. As a competitive runner in Junior and Senior High School I grew up in the running culture of Oregon, it was a good excuse to come see this event. I hope some of you can watch it on TV and see some of my home state.

Enjoy being home.

I watched, on my Studio, Norway being totally outclassed of England in the UEFA Women's Euro Championships that takes place in London now.
Lord, when I was playing back in the days Norway was not that bad. Maybe they haven't evolved as we have 😜
England was really good though. German can't win, they have too many titles. Honestly, I don't think they will. Many countries. have caught ups on them. Obviously not Norway.
Will be an exciting Championship, I hope, for Sweden mostly of course 😁
But in general, it will be fun.
