It’s the modern day equivalent of self flagellation. Sadly I didn’t have a whip or a cilice available so I opted for something much more painful.
You could try listening to rap music of modern pop. It’s of a similar vein.
that’s the audio on some of the videos, plus a fake robotic voice. Not even Dante could come up with something so awful. It was just… sad.
Such self-punishment seems somewhat superfluous in today's world, as there is more than enough punishment to go round.

Rap music is pure punishment, an offence against the very idea of music.
I remember reading a meme that said, more or less: “Remember when older generations complained how awful jazz, rock, metal, grunge music is? With the advent of rap the older generation is finally right.”

However, Rap isn't even music; rather, it is noise, a veritable assault on your ears.
Agreed. I truly don’t get it and here it’s so popular I can’t even… I am also not sure that many of the lyrics are appropriate for small kids riding a car with someone that listens to it (as I see often). Oh well.
I would respectfully beg to disagree. Much rap is basically poetry*, often describing the ills of society.
Grunge, OTOH, is noise.
As too, are those wailing opera singers. I can't give you any examples, as when one of them pops up on my radio, I change channels before I can find out the singer/song.
* Eminem excepted...
The thing about awful music is why do people always insist on playing it out loud? Usually on devices unable to cover the range and handle the volume. Just put some Queen on instead!
Agree completely re the lyrics in rap.
Now, I do get the idea of composing or writing (and performing) music as an act or, or expression of, rebellion, against societal norms and prevailing attitudes.
This is not a recent development, and long predates both jazz, and rock'n'roll.
As an expression of alienation, dissent and rebellion all one needs to do is to just take a look at, or, rather, just listen to, Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro - based on The Barber of Seville by Beaumarchais. Now, this is part of the canon of classical music, - terrific, timeless, classical music - but, when it was first composed (and performed) this was an absolute act of rebellion, musical, political, social and cultural.
Nevertheless, to my mind, re rap, both the melody (what melody is there in rap?) and the lyrics are both deeply unattractive.
I rest my case; for, some of Mozart's operas were deemed to have been politically (and socially) radical, coming close to revolutionary in terms of the message they imparted.
Context, I suppose, is everything, in such discussions.
And death is better than rap on TikTok!
@Apple fanboy @Scepticalscribe I think I'm the only one in the senior class who doesn't have TikTok, and I'm perfectly ok with that... it's so incredibly toxic.

Now, I do understand the need to attract users and to try to drive engagement, (advertisers, profits, numbers, and so on), but, inquiring minds wish to know whether encouraging an incredibly toxic environment is the only possible way to attempt to achieve this?

Hell, Purgatory, and Paradiso are pretty symbolic on many events we and the world goes through. Funny in retrospect, when we sit and dip our toes in something nice, also symbolically, of course.
On my mind is how divine synchronicity also are. Not always in all phases of transformations, real changes are challenging. They are intense, chaotic, requires perspective, for things to be clear and wonderful at the end of the (cross)roads.
With some visits in hell, purgatory on the road where the paradise opens, whatever the change and transformation are about. Passionate ♥️🔥💦 ‼️
