I am really happy at not heading home in the dark.

Light - natural light especially - makes such a difference (positive) to our lives.

While I loathe the cold, the rain, snow, ice, and dismal dreariness of winter, I think I loathe the darkness, the short days of winter, and the poor quality of the available light duirng those brutally short days even more.

Gotta second (third?) the appreciation of longer days. At its earliest, sunset was like half an hour before I got outta work, so not only were bike rides below freezing, but pitch black. o_O

I also noticed how much slower it felt like I was going, like the cold had some effect on mobility. Sure enough, when I check Strava, in warm weather I shave off ten minutes from my daily rides and half an hour from my weekend rides.

I just read something interested Lasting Immunity Found after recovery of Covid-19 and was floored! If the US medical board found this explains even vaxed he got the virus at work after it went threw his work office (he's a plumber) and everyone became sick even the the boss but my Brother never got it because he had it the month before!

Without wanting to get political, due to my position (server guy on military post) I was one of those 'essential employees,' and to make a long story short, by the time the vaccines finally came out...I'd had COVID 3 times. First time was a buttkicker, second time was a minor cold, and I didn't even know I had it the 3rd time until I tested positive.

BUT...I had to get vaccinated 'because.'

Previous exposure, plus vaccinations do help. As well, depending on what vaccination you get, the more recent ones give you protection against strains you haven't yet had.

I mean, I've heard that, but both my PCP and endocrinologist have told me "Don't bother....your antibody levels are off the charts, no need."

Where I work, we run into all kinds of people from all over the world, so by the time any new vaccines come out...I've already been exposed and probably either had it, or had antibodies developed via natural immunity.

We have an election on today in New South Wales. I will be going down to my local school in an hour or so to vote.

However, I turned on the TV while enjoying my early morning coffee (Columbian single origin, courtesy of Aldi) and all I get is pundits rabbiting on about who is going to win the election.

Now, at this stage of the day, there is only one person's opinion I care about -- mine.*

I know the pundits have to talk about something, but can't they give the election a miss for a little while and talk about something important, like kittens and puppies?

Give us all a break, please?

Anyway, I then switched over to Youtube, and all I get is Trump, Trump, Trump, Flat Earth, Flat Earth.
So I came here...

* And no, I'm not going to give it to you. This is an apolitical forum

Vaxes don't keep you from getting it, they just help keep you out of the hospital or the morgue. Immunity after covid is great - if you survive the infection. I don't recommend thst course of action.

Well, to be clear, in many cases, there wasn't a choice. I was back at work onsite in June of 2020 in the midst of everything; and we had to mask (gov't employee), distance, wash hands, etc., and regardless, I still got it. In fact, I'm almost 100% sure we had it in February of 2020, as I know for sure I was in close proximity to people from that area of the world, and I had "the worst cold" for about 2 weeks.

So by the time I was able to get a vaccination...I'd had it 3x. Not the way I would have chosen to protect myself from it, but by that time, it was literally not as bad as the actual plain ol' cold we contracted in March of 2021.

I haven't had a cold since 2019. Working at home became permanent, so that put an end to that for me.

I had my vaccinations and didn't get Covid all the way through until December 2022. I was hoping I'd be one of those people that never got it.

On my mind is Monday morning on about 3-4 hours sleep. Going to be a long day.

Good luck with it.

Even though the days are getting longer, brighter and warmer, (in general), I am not much of a fan of Mondays.

Same here, have accounting to catch up on , but at least our students are working on independent research and only have class on Mondays. Darn chilly though, rainy weekend and only 8 degrees (low of 3 🥶) today.
