The only real positive of SMS is you can still text if you have no data but still have service.
That’s crazy, how are carriers still charging for that stuff….
Still not good enough to not have free mms in this day and age.In fairness, I think UK mobile plans are much cheaper than US.
Do people still get charged for sending sms and mms in this day and age? Surly not.
Sms and mms has been free for a while here in Australia.![]()
Wow that is ridiculous.lucky you don’t get charged when sending via iMessage
Someone needs to tell Boris to get with the times.![]()
A lot of these carriers are greedy evil scum who couldn’t care less about their customers, only thing that matters to them is their shareholders and 💰Well you get charged the mobile data if you’re on cellular. Lots of carriers out there still not offering really unlimited internet.
Everything on my plan is unlimited, SMS, minutes, 5G data but then I get charged 55p per MMS. Doesn’t make sense! The only real positive of SMS is you can still text if you have no data but still have service.
The only weird thing is sometimes with some people iMessage will stop working and it switches to regular text message while my other contacts will still be iMessage.
Rubbish comment, everyone I know in the UK uses it.It's laggy, slow and full of useless gimmicks, no one outside of US uses it.
Depends on whether you text a UK or Spanish number...if the receiving number is an UK number like someone on holiday for example then the sender wouldnt be charged but the receiver could be depending on their mobile provider (actually not that likely these days as most UK providers dont charge abroad in the EU\few other places and allow you to use your allowances abroad as well) but if you were to text a Spanish number then you probably would be charged. What about if let’s say I’m in the UK I text someone in Spain, do I get charged for SMS?
What is status with end-to-end encryption in rcs? Apple is not gonna support rcs without encryption, though it is questionable they ever will anyway.Admittedly Apple Messages is great but there are Android equivalents (not referring to WhatsApp).
In the UK anyway RCS is getting major traction either through Samsung Messages or Android Messages from all major networks.
Wife and I have Samsung devices at the moment and we can share full resolution pictures and videos just like Apple Messages. We also have all that memoji malarkey equivalents available if needed.
We even get a BLUE message if it's RCS or Green if it is SMS! Lol
Recently, I have noticed an increasing number of my contacts are using the RCS feature even on budget Nokia and alike.
Google will soon add (if not already implemented) end to end encryption as well it seems. Future looks good.
Messages app is certainly not perfect. On my Mac and iPhone, if the Mac is in use, it can receive messages up to 10 minutes before my phone. The idea sounds awesome but the syncing is rather buggy. My iPad receives the messages like few hours late. So I like the idea but I am not sure that I can use it properly with those delays and bugs.
Definitely sounds like a bug. My iPad also receives the messages with delays. They might be more like 30 minutes than 10.Messages app is certainly not perfect. On my Mac and iPhone, if the Mac is in use, it can receive messages up to 10 minutes before my phone.
Also, some messages never synch at all to the Mac. Something to do with AppleID versus phone number. That seems like an issue with Apple as my AppleID certainly has my phone number on the account.
This sounds super weird. I wonder how they got into your computer.Similarly, I have also gotten messages from an unknown user with a new Mac - synched via her AppleID and not associated with phone number in my address book. And that seems like a privacy/security failure, now I have her AppleID and the associated email address.
Its end to end encrypted and just works out of the box across all your apple devices.I see everyone on here praising iMessage. It seems like a regular messaging app to me. What am I missing.....longtime Android user
