  • Background task scheduler to provide for automated whispernet style downloads.
  • Drop down toggle bar allowing for wifi, bluetooth etc to be turned on and off at a touch.
  • A much, much better notification system.
  • YouTube app to be able to search by most recent.
  • A file manager, even if it only allows access to one pan device documents folder.
  • Upload buttons to work in Safari, giving access to the file above.
  • A proper bluetooth stack implementation with all features.
  • Custom SMS tones (come on, this is getting silly now)
  • Safari password autocomplete to require Android style security gestures, with an Opera desktop style selector when you have multiple logons.
  • Optional joypad attachment support.
  • One touch access to the EQ settings in the iPod app.
  • Contacts so support social media details & Facebook integrations.
  • Push notifications of app store updates.
  • Rotation lock.
  • Coverflow disabling option.
  • More homescreen functionality.
  • Safari address bar to be returned to it's previous (far superior) design.
  • Search in page in Safari.
  • Scroll to bottom of page gesture, primarily in Safari. Ever tried to load a massive page and spend five minutes frantically scrolling down because you only wanted to read the new comment at the bottom anyway?

Mostly things that should have been fixed in 2.0 IMO, never mind 4.0, but they're all fairly small things that would make the OS feel vastly, vastly more finished and useful.

I'm curious about this. Could you elaborate more?

Well, basically, what i have been wanting on the iPhone for a long time is a usefull lock screen, i said home screen in my previous post but i meant lock screen.

There is so much space on the lock screen, and im talking about the iPhone, there is even more space on the iPad's lock screen. Wouldnt it be great to see how many emails, text messages etc you have- right on the lock screen?

I would wake my phone up and instantly see how many emails i have and from whom. I would instanly see stuff like RSS maybe. There is just so much space on the lock screen that i think isn,t used. One could argue that with a infomatove lock screen you wouldnt be able to see your wallpaper, but i really dont care about
my wallpaper.

I dont always hear my iPhone when the ( ridiciously short ) sound of email plays. I constantly find myself pulling my phone out, waking it up and unlocking it. I would like to pull the phone out, wake it up, and see whata going on right on the lock screen. I have seen a nice implementation of this via a jailbreak feature, but for some reason i just dont want to jailbreak my phone.

Gotcha. That certainly sounds like a great idea. I agree, the wallpaper is secondary.

Firewall app that lets the USER see/control anything in or outbound beyond the telephone function.

i agree with the better notification system and I hope that multitasking works well.

Ringtone and Text Tones should share the same library

I'm not very happy with the default Text Tones that are included in iPhone iOS 4.2.1.

Apple iOS should allow us to customize Text Tones from the same Ringtone library.

I bought some ringtones but cannot seem to be apply them to my Text Tones. It would be great if I can apply my OWN custom tones to the Text Tones.

Long time complaint with multiple threads discussing this issue. And I agree.
