You do realise that sticking the most advanced tech in a device just for the sake of it doesn't actually make a device better, right? You also need to tie in the associated software and services. We've already just about reached end game as far as where advances in technology can take us in mobile; the focus is now on the software and services and making them the best and most compelling experiences possible.

Tell that to the iPhone 4 owners who can't run siri or the 3GS owners who can't run iOS 5 smoothly. What do you not understand about having high end specs to future proof your phone? If the iPhone 4 had dual core like every other phone in it's time, then you wouldn't have such a BS excuse to have to upgrade to the 4S which was launched with outdated specs. It's not for bragging rights, it's to have your phone future proofed for more than one pathetic year. Just look at the GS2, it launched with world class leading specs. So now when it gets updated to ICS later this month, it will have absolutely no problems running ALL the new features of ICS. So are you begining to see the reason for having class leading specs? It is more than possible to have class leading specs and improve software at the same time. ICS and the GS2 are a perfect example of this. How can anyone ever argue against this. Does Apple have you all really that convinced they know best for you?

The iPhone 4 came out long before there were any dual-core phones. You can only put in a device what is technically possible at the time you're designing that device.

I'd need a bigger display and a non-glass design to even consider moving back to an iPhone. Better battery life is always a welcome improvement too.

Or they can starting being inventive and not just innovative, and start making their own CPUs instead of letting Samsung do it for them.
Apple has the money, and they love having strict control, so all the more reason they should just become a real OEM and start inventing and making their own parts.

Add LED notification lights on front of phone. That's the only thing I miss about my blackberry.

why is everybody so crazy about a bigger screen?
i think the screens we have and had for almost 5 years are fine.
all the android super 6 inch bla-phones that look just stupid when you're holding them to your head try to make the iphone jealous?

as my thumb is not getting any longer, i'd rather keep the 3.5inch screen!

I can't believe how many people want bigger screens. The iPhone 4 is so perfectly pocket-sized. I don't want an iPad in my pocket.

I do want 4G, however. 3G makes me feel like I'm back in the days of dial-up internet.

As someone who had a phone with a much larger screen (HTC EVO 4G), one of the most welcome changes of coming back to the iPhone (went from iPhone 3G > EVO 4G > iPhone 4S) was the smaller size.

The larger screen was great and didn't seem to make that much of a difference in my pocket, but now that I've gone back to a smaller phone I realize how great the compact size is.

Yes! LED for missed call and SMS ...
And I'm against bigger screens, if they don't get rid of the Home button.

If I want a bigger screen, I use my iPad.
(Tried a Galaxy Nexus and SGSII. Great hardware, too big for my pocket. I still prefer iOS ...)

One thing I really miss about my Android phone was the little vibration when an outgoing call connected. It was nice to not have to hold the phone up to my ear until I knew it was ringing.

You can make the flash on the back of the iPhone flash for notifications, but it's not quite the same as the BB or Android setup.

Now that I read the posts, it's very tough to pick just one. I certainly feel we NEED more ram, but I also want a bigger screen. I'd be happy with a notification LED as well, but I don't believe Apple has that in the pipeline. Or maybe I am wrong. Who knows? Battery life, for me, is fine where it is. If it doesn't get reduced while adding all these other nice upgrades, I will be ok with that.

Processor and RAM, mostly. Larger screen would be nice but that means a larger phone, if they change it fine but if not I won't be disappointed.

It's not everybody, just a minority that happens to be vocal about it on internet forums.

Just curious, how do you know it's the minority? Larger screened Android phones are selling very well, not just to some internet minority. Honestly, I don't know how many actual iPhone users want a bigger screen. It could be the minority, it could be exactly half, or it could even be the majority.

Well it's rather more difficult than just clicking your fingers and having a multi-billion pound fab spring up out of nowhere. And don't forget that Apple did design the A4 and A5 processors themselves. Samsung simply manufacture the processors for Apple. So Apple already have the control over it.

If Apple thought it would be cost effective to manufacture their own parts they would be (they already design their own ARM chips). Don't think for a minute that Apple hasn't thought about it or continues to reevaluate if they should. Any large company looks at all their bases (are belong to us).

I suppose I fit into the iOS 6 crowd but only for one thing, Maps needs to be updated to support spoken turn by turn navigation. It's so far behind everything else it's pathetic. I guess I would like to see Facebook integration too.

I voted for better battery life but larger screen came in second. Not that my battery life is horrible but having a longer lasting battery doesnt hurt. I want to also see a 4" screen.

Larger screen, but not at the expense of having a pentile display. That would be a deal breaker for me if that was present on a future iPhone.

Also, (and I'm sure I'm in the minority here) I would like the screen to be 16:9, with a 1280x720 resolution. I do watch videos quite a bit on my iPhone, and I'd be happier without the black bars. (I don't have any videos on my iPhone right now that are 4:3 or 2.35:1.) But this isn't an absolute must-have for me at this point.

Bigger screen (I think the sweet spot is anywhere between 4.3" and 4.7") and a refreshed UI in iOS.

Screen size. I know I speak for many. Gotta bump it up to 4" this fall. Ideal would be 4.3"-4.5" IMO. That's just me. Anything less than 4" this fall is pathetic and lame.
