Awesome replies everyone! Very interesting to see what the Apple Watch can be put through.

I didn't wear mine to work today but I probably will at some point this week during a cooler day. I have the 42mm SG BSB.

All kidding aside I have washed my watch under the faucet multiple times. You do not need to worry about heat or dust.

Time to put you watch on and ENJOY IT!

Wearing it to work today! I'm gonna use the Spigen Tough Armor case so hopefully that'll give me some extra protection.

Good to know; I'll probably rinse it off after work if it's noticeably dirty.

Post back how you like that case. I'm hesitant to use a case in dusty environments due to previous experiences with iPhone cases causing more scratches than going naked. Cases, with exception of fully sealed models, allow grit in between the case and the device and keep it there where vibration rubs the grit back and forth creating scratches. Not that scratches to the device impair function, just that now my iPhone is all scratched up from using a case, I leave it on to cover the scratches... Hmm.

Just got back from work. Watch is completely fine! Hit my Move and Exercise goals in the first two hours lol.

I used the case for the first hour, then noticed it started getting wet on the inside (presumably from me sweating so much), so I took it off and just wrapped a head band around the watch to protect it a bit from the dust. I'm not gonna use the case again and can't really recommend it. It might help against occasional bumps and scrapes, but it's not worth it IMO. I'll look at a waterproof/dustproof case once those start releasing.

I am a restaurant GM and tend to be very hands on at times when needed. It's been through hot/cold of the kitchen/walk-in/freezer and dishwashing.

To be fair, prior to this I wore a Pebble for about a year and half and it went through hell and back without any issues. I expect the same of the Apple Watch. I'm just a bit more careful about hitting it on something.

I wear this every day including daily workouts with CrossFit. No problems. In September, I am taking it to Mount Kilimanjaro so we'll see how that goes.

I took my AW on a 20-mile hike from Curry Village to Half Dome in Yosemite. I'm pleased to report, the watch is fine! :)

Multiple trips to the gym to lift. Multiple bike rides (I sweat buckets). A couple trips to the pool. Washes under the faucet after each. Upper 90's heat and outrageous humidity of the southeast every time I step outside. Headed to the lake soon, so it'll probably see some water sports.

I don't treat it any differently than my old g shock, but so far the most treacherous thing it's seen is some water. I haven't smashed it into anything, yet.

I've demod our master bathroom, cut, installed wood, drywall and durock, soldered copper, mixed mortar, applied mortar. Will be laying tile as soon as it comes in. No nicks or scratches on the watch. A dirty sport band but that wiped clean with a Clorox wet cloth.

Forest in Virginia mountains on high ropes courses, hike up a mountain, showering my daughter (which can become a harsh underwater environment if her rubby ducky be removed from the scene), the gym.

Was really impressed when I took it on my Hiking/Camping Retreat with youth from my church for 10 days in Virginia mountains. It held up and tracked me like a boss.

OP 100 degree F heat is not enough to do anything (200+ degrees I'd be a little worried...So don't put it in an oven ;)). The only thing of concern is the dust getting into the speaker, or building up around the digital crown, I would just make sure you are always cleaning the dust and not letting it build up. But considering the type of work that you are going to do with it, Apple Care + might be worth a look

I've worn it the past two days at work, and so far so good (knock on wood)! What I end up doing is putting a headband over the watch to cover it a bit and prevent dust from getting into the digital crown and speaker and mic holes. No issues so far, but I'm definitely going to consider AppleCare+ since it's only $50.

The main reason I went with the SS over the Sport was because I thought it would be tougher. I wanted the watch to be my daily wearer, and it's lived up to that so far. The most abuse it has seen has been when I was using the string trimmer to clean up the edges on my lawn. This flings a ton of dirt right at my wrist, so much so that when I took the watch off you could see its outline on my wrist because of all the dirt caked on with sweat. After this the digital crown was stuck, but I just ran it under the tap and spun it and everything was fine. I've done this twice now since I got my watch and each time there wasn't a single scratch.

I also wear it to the gym every day, where I sweat like crazy (damn Gulf Coast humidity). I just rinse it off when I'm done. The only time I've taken it off was when I was working with a chainsaw. But that was more of a safety concern in my mind, though I was probably being paranoid. This weekend I plan to do two oil changes, and I'll leave it on for those as well.

I've been on vacation in Egypt where temperatures are approximately 40oc. My watch is doing fine so far.

Seldom comes off my wrist during the day, so life in general, including woodworking, gardening, scrub clearing using a motorised strimmer, and driving the tractor, I do draw the line at wearing it when the chainsaw comes out.

Also been in heavy rainfall.

Still works, still looks newish. And scratch free even after attacking a brick wall and various door posts with it

Overall pleased with its resistance to the humdrum of life.

I had it on while climbing Mount Snowdon last year. It was cold, windy and very wet. Didn't skip a beat.

to the beach lol i didnt wear it in the salt water but i was still scared it would scratch from the sand

Plastic seems to be the answer to seawater salt corrosion if you listen to those who say plastic is the biggest threat, to the oceanic environment. I do hope apple is not reading this thread. I do not want a plastic watch!:(

Swimming with the SS and one of my sports bands about 40 times and the shower before and after. Nowhere near salt water but a few times in one of the 11,000 lakes here. :)

Never a problem. Lots of digging in the dirt and mowing and retaining wall. Still not a scratch on the screen.

Well the harshest environment for mine is being attached to me. Between my blinking nerve damage making my stupid arm spasm and whack off things and me not babying it, it's had a tough time.

It's been bashed or scraped against walls, wood, metal, concrete, glass (car window) and porcelain. It's been thrown across the room to land on a solid wood floor, smack into the television, against the wall and on more than one occasion a poor unsuspecting sleeping collie dog :D

It's survived it all with nought but tiny hairline scratches in the shiny silver, which it'll get no matter what, it's a watch after all. The sapphire however is completely un-marked, still looks like it did on launch day.

So I guess I'm saying, just wear it like any other watch, it'll survive what any other watch will.

I would say I put my Apple watch to a little bit higher level of abuse then your average consumer.

I had my Apple watch on the entire time, under my wetsuit.

If you are really stressed buy the lunatik case. I usually run it if I am doing extreme stuff.

In the video no case just sport band works great after

A few days before this I wiped out majorly on a downhill mountain bike and while I needed stitches the watch was fine.
