iPhone 4 for 2.5 years. The iPhone 6 could've broken that record but I couldn't pass up the practically free trade in to iPhone 7.

I still have my OG iPhone 16GB (alarm clock and iPod) so that's longest owned. :)

Used my 4S for two years before I upgraded to the 5S. After that I started upgrading every year.

Thanks for the clarification. I still use my
iPhone 6 as an iPod. But I upgrade annually to the latest device.
I get new iPhones every year since original iPhone. I have a box full of my old iPhones because i don't sell my iPhones and i have huge collection of iPhones, So i use my iPhone for a year and upgrade when new one comes out. i love iPhones and will keep buying every generation.

Edit :- This Year i am getting iPhone 8 and iPhone 7S :D

iPhone 3G still alive and running after 9 years, used rarely only for music/ videos.
iPhone 5 is about to complete 5 years this November. Will be upgrading this year as the 5 is not going to get iOS 11.

mine is 2 years, i tend to upgrade every 2 years, my first iPhone was the 3gs i then moved to 4s, 5s, 6 Plus and now my current iPhone is the 7 Plus, i will be breaking the 2 year upgrade this year as well when i pre-order the iPhone 8! it sounds like it's going to be too good to miss!!!

Still on the iPhone 6 since the launch day. But recently getting annoyed with the app refresh rate.

I have iphone6s and it has been abt 1.5 yrs, but planning to sell it anytime. Couple of days back got a new iPhone SE 32gb rose gold for a great deal - $5/month for 30 months ($150) at&t at Best Buy. It was one day offer. And I am planning to keep this for fairly a good amt of time.

I still have my iPhone 5 from 2012 in daily use. It was my first smartphone and has worked flawlessly ever since.

The battery is suffering a little but I use an Anker external battery if I know I need to use the GPS for a lengthy turn-by-turn cycle route.

That is impressive! I don't want to sell my phone either but it has only 16 gb, I mean 16 gb is decent but I personally store a lot so memory space is the drawback in mine.

Used original iPhone for one year, iPhone 3G for three years, iPhone 4S for three years*. Then was on T-Mobile's "Jump On Demand" program and upgraded from 6 to 6S to 7 in one year intervals. Have since switched carriers and paid off the 7. I'll probably stay with the 7 for 2-3 years.

* I had a work-provided iPhone 5C for the last year of the 4S, but it was so locked down, it was basically just a call-and-text device. Almost no 3rd party apps allowed, many Apple services disabled (iMessage, FaceTime.)

Definitely the 3GS. Upgraded to that on launch day in June 2009. I skipped the 4 and held onto the 3GS until the 4S launched in Oct 2011.

I'm not doing anything special, so until the battery is unmanageable, I'm still good on an iPhone 4. And even then, opening the case up isn't a huge deal.

I used my iPhone 4 for 2 years and 3 months. The next longest was the 5 at 2 years. I'll likely keep the 7 for 2 years as well.

I used my iPhone 4S for 3+ years, from launch till I replaced it with the iPhone 6. It was then handed down to my son who still uses it to this day.

The iPhone I used the longest was also the 4s for around three and a half years. Great phone, fit perfectly in the hand, and despite durability complaints I never got a single crack in the glass front or back.

3GS from December 2009 until I got a 5 in April 2013, and still using the 5 now.

With the amount of freezing in apps I'm seeing, and a cracked screen now (first damage ever to either iPhone), I'll probably be getting a 7S or maybe an 8, depending on cost, at the end of the year.

6s Plus almost 2 years now. Is superior to the 7 Plus in that

It's has a Qualcomm LTE Radio, 3.5mm jack Provides higher quality audio. Physical Home button just feels so good.

Had my 5 ~3 years
No interest in the larger phones that came after that.
So didn't change until SE came :D

Probably could buy a larger phone sometime if there's something that REALLY
is interesting. But probably not, if :apple: continue doing smaller phones with good prestanda.
I would like a Red phone at some point, so future will have its say.

6 months straight for me on the same iphone. Only had 2 in the past few years and since I switch out for the variety of also having android I go back and forth. I get bored with my iphones after a few weeks or less and need something different so out comes the sim and in it goes into my current android device, sweet. Rinse, repeat.

The longest phone I used was the 4s, got it launch day. I didn't like the bezel cut on the 5 and it felt cheap. The 5s was the same with TouchID. I passed on that too. From the 4s to the 5 they moved the headphone jack to the bottom which screws up how I used the phone so that was another deciding factor. I got the 6 for the larger screen etc and gave up on the headphone jack battle. It will probably take an act of God for me to upgrade from my 7+ and iOS 10, since the Control Center in ios11 is just a hideous wreck.
