Yes? I already told you I don't understand it at all.

I can give you an example. I am in and out of my office all day long. When I had an iPhone, I had to go into settings, click brightness, adjust to the outdoor sun/indoor office. With my Nexus I goto the power widget and click it once and it's at full brightness, click again and it's at 30% brightness. For me, that is just easier and more useful. That's just one of many examples. I really do hope Apple does some sort of widgets in iOS 6. I'd love to have that ability on my iPad 2.

Or you can just set your iPhone to auto brightness.

Fragmentation is what's killing android right now.

This got me thinking: what is the killing feature of Android tablet? iPad always has apps, now it has retina screen but how about Android? How saleman sell Android?

This is is why the Ipad is better, unless you cont being a coaster as your number one priority. You can't tell me that your android web browser hasn't crashed thousands of times. I was afraid of every updated because it might brick something. As far as multitasking I can listen to pandora and web browse I would say that's multitasking. Every reviewer also said the ipad 2 loaded web pages faster then the Prime becuase of the WiFi issues. To many hardware makers, putting to many skins over android right now, Samsung is the only manufacture that stands a chance.

I will also check out windows tabs because they look promising.

In my opinion the best phones are Android , the best Computers are PC's, and the best tablets are Ipads.

Customizability
Lower cost
No walled garden app environment

I don't think consumers will buy on #1 and #3 so that leave only lower cost. No wonder everybody's talking about Amazon rather than Google, and no wonder the future doesn't look so bright.

I'm still asking the question... If droid's so great...why are you all on an Apple-based forum, in an iPad section, discussing an extremely different ecosystem philosophy with mainly Apple-minded people? And...does this sort of behavior occur in reverse? IE - Do Apple Fanboys (or rather Google haters...because I think most of his is envy based) go and fart around extolling the safer and prettier virtues of iOS on Droid based sites?

Why do you think UI is not a consideration one makes when choosing an Android tablet over an iPad? For many people, that is the most important factor.

Truth be told, most if not all of the popular apps available for the iPad are available for Android tablets. And yes, a lot of them look different - a lot of Android tablet apps are straight ports from their phone counterparts, so they don't look as good. If an app UI is an important selling point, why wouldn't a tablet OS UI be the same?

I don't believe you said anything about UI but about UI, iPad's the simplest so yes, I also don't think consumers will choose Android over iPad on UI.

Customizability == feature of the UI.

And you're wrong about it not being a factor when deciding on Android over iOS.

Sorry, we'll never discuss anything ever again

And not too many people care about that. We just want to do something. Have fun with it, not messing with it. So far what you gave that ring the bell is only lower cost and the current market agree with it.
Nothing else?

What I hate from the iPad 1 and 2 is when you have multiple tabs open, when you go to them, they have refresh. I find that very annoying.

Thanks for avoiding the questions

Just confirms my troll sense tingling...

I don't really think that anyone thinks that Droid is a terrible mobile OS. It's clearly Apple's biggest competitor, but make no mistake...the OS idea thievery or whatever you'd like to call it has gone both ways. Go take a look at the first go round for Google's mobile OS and then look at it later and ask yourself who did the most copying of who. I once again, will state that it really comes down to a matter of choice. If you want customization beyond your wildest imagination, if you want to be up searching for cooked ROMs for hours at a time, if you want to sideload worms and virii sourced from all over the internet, if you want to plug in any piece of electronics compatible or not to your device...well...I know this is a real big news flash here... Apple's probably not your company to hitch your wagon to. Now if you want simplicity, somebody else to worry about compatibility, service when things do go wrong, vetted applications (rather done poorly or against your wishes or not...), accessories that for the most part have been adequately vetted, an OS that you don't need to read a manual or a FAQ to figure out, etc...Apple might be just your bag.

There's room for more than one game in this town...that's all I'm sayin'. But coming to an Apple board, and an iPad section, to pump up the chief competition or to put down an iPad/Apple product...no sane person could possibly believe that to turn out completely well.

I could understand if this board was flooded with android topics but it is not. 90% of topics involve the ipad and its natural to talk about its rivals once in a while.

I'm sure there are Apple fanboys visiting android forums as well and I'm sure the ipad is mentioned there too.

I like Apple and I own plenty of Apple products as well as Google products, I wasn't aware you could only like one or the other.

Nothing then, so the killing feature of tablet:
iPad - apps, ease of use.
Android - Lower price.
Windows 8 (supposedly) - MS Office, seamless with Windows.

Hmm.....

Seriously? You don't believe what you're being told so you merely brush it off as false?

Visit any Android discussion forum and ask people why they chose an Android tablet over an iPad. I guarantee you that 80-90% of the responses you get will have something to do with UI/customizability.

I've had 2 iPad 1s, an iPad 2, an iPad 3, multiple Android phones, and a Motorola Xoom. From my own experience the ability to customize my home screen and widgets is a major reason why I bought the Android devices. Just because you enjoy being told how your tablet should look and you have no problems with that inflexibility doesn't mean everyone else does.

Microsoft on a tablet? I'm still shaken. By using windows CE on a notepad computer some 13 years ago. Tablets are about content consumption vs creation. I don't want to deal with drivers and settings.

iOS works perfectly. Btw I will not pay for any android app. Only iOS as I know I have cloud and apple to organize them for me.

I did get angry birds space free on the droid where it was $3 on apple. Guess others won't pay android apps either.

I'm talking about consumers, I'm not talking about people who's roaming tech forum. Do you have any more killing feature of Android, for consumers, to add? The one that really matter like a phone used to have more carriers, for example.

I don't know... I don't go nosing around in droid forums, but my guts would lead me to believe that the situation happens far less in reverse. Mainly because it's always inline with human nature to try to drag down the leader...or pump up the underdog, and clearly at this point (and certainly in terms of profit) all others are underdogs to Apple right now. I'll have to do some digging around for some anecdotal evidence over at the XDA forums (which makes perfect sense by the way...because the same fervent droid backers are about the same ones were wasting hours away cooking WinMo ROMs way back in the day...). Are there any other Asus specific forums? I know there used to be a forum for the EeePC line of netbooks, perhaps that's still alive...

"People who's roaming tech forum" are consumers too.

You're obviously way too ignorant and have too much tunnel vision to have a rational discussion about this topic. There are plenty of reasons why someone would choose Android over iOS, but given your penchant for ignoring discussion points it's clear that presenting more would simply be a waste of time.

The major advantage android tablets (some) is expandable memory, that was a deal breaker for me because Apple refuses to offer external support or upgrade capacities once again, we've been on 64gb capacity since 2009 and it was on the ipod touch.

The major disadvantage is that the apps are mostly for smart phones so they are unreasonably stretched to fit the screen.

A device like the ipad with its high resolution screen leading to more space requirements should be at 128gb and the 16gb model dropped from the ipad 3 line-up, 16gb is a absolute joke.

There are some very talented developers out there you know. They can really enhance devices, so it isnt weird that people install cooked roms.

The ability to add new roms isn't a disadvantage to android by any means.
