Well, after an MS update that was meant to fix the iPod unmounting problems destroyed my Vista, I'm now back in Windows XP.

Probably forever too.

Holy crap, does iTunes 7 FLY in comparison.

Actually, everything flys! :D

Collapsable Library!!!

What I want is for the Library to be collapsable. For instance, rather than scrolling through 100s of Beatles songs to get to Ben Folds(or whatever comes after the Beatles), why can't it be that all the Beatles albums and songs get collapsed into one line: "The Beatles"...just like in Windows with the little "+" and "-" icons. I bet iTunes would run faster and scroll smoother if it was collapsable. There are *some* things that Apple can take from Windows to actually make it better.

Having the browse list kind of already covers this.

Bloody blurry CoverFlow scrollbar on my beautiful macbook...

I absolutely hate this. It's very fugly. :(
I also hate the whole color scheme of iTunes 7, and the interface in general. I would like to see version 6 with coverflow+features of version 7.

One more: When I have a band, and the names differ slightly, and it puts it as anoter artist and can't get the album artwork.
For example:

The Offpsring - Conspiracy of One....always works great, but not the same as
Offspring - Conspiracy of One, or Offpsring - conspriacy of one.

They need to slow on the adding of features, and optimize the codebase. Badly.

Agreed. iTunes 7 is one of the slowest/buggiest versions of iTunes to date, and while the bugs aren't as bad as some previous ones (iTunes 2 wiping hard drives comes to mind), it's annoying because they're so apparent.

I find bugs like the following to be amusing: scrubbing through the song and ending at 0:00 where it just stops and refuses to go on to the next song. Or the double-playback thing -- if you hit back/forward at just the right time the previous song will play, the next song will be displayed and also begin to play. There are so many other issues.

And then, of course, there are the performance problems you've already mentioned. I must say that I rarely leave list view because scrolling in Album View is laggy on my MacBook, and that's a shame because Album View was one of the features I was really hoping for/awaiting! And I really don't want to allocate 100+ megabytes of RAM to iTunes just to view Cover Flow; in fact, I still use the superior standalone Coverflow app for that.

If I leave itunes open for 12 hours plus the text at the head of all the bars in music go all screwy like a bad stamping job.

Scrolling is slower than slow on a 15'' PB. Two-finger scrolling, I mean. It works in Safari, so why can't it work in iTunes??? You get some jerking when you try to scroll in iTunes, but this is not scrolling - this is ... ah, never mind;)

Also, 7.1.1 update broke my iPod syncing, so I had to revert to 7.0.1, but this might be an isolated case only with my iPod.

You can't put your own audiobooks into the Audiobooks section easily
AND I bought Ricky Gervais Series 3 as an Audio Book and it simply refuses to sync as an audiobook to my iPod! I paid for this from the iTunes store why won't it WORK!!

and relax....breath...:apple:

This is such a lazy thing..... but i wish there was a key command to go to the search bar.

I uncheck a lot of music in my library, because my iPod isn't large enough to hold all my music. I would love a "Hide Unchecked Music" function. I hate deleting music, but sometimes I just don't need my entire library available. If I could hide all the unchecked music, then navigating and finding the music I want to hear would be much easier.

The CPU usage is horrible. I've said it before and I'll say it again: Apple is incapable of writing efficient software.

3% is not that bad to play Apple Lossless especially when you consider that Safari is currently using 30% at the moment just sitting there idle while I type this post.

Edit : Forgot I was downloading a rather large file that was accounting for the high CPU use by Safari :).

Edit Number 2 : Being able to do some form of mass editing of ID tags. I hate having my files wrongly labeled or not fitting in with my naming structure.

The way it handles duplicate tracks. Thanks to iTunes displaying what appear to be broken links next to fine ones, i've gone and deleted the file only to find out it was the only copy.

This has left my music collection in tatters from when I tried to organise it the other day. Thanks a lot Apple..

It does not delete them entirely unless you empty the trash afterwards or delete the files from your music folder by hand. If you did neither of those things they should be recoverable with very little effort.

I know it shouldn't do that, but believe me somehow it did. It needs some sort of 'update media' function in the next version I reckon.

There's an Apple Script that deletes the onees that aren't there.
