This isn't an argument in PRSI so you should be polite .

Yes, came here to find out what that means. It's refreshing.

I remain somewhat amazed I can stream anything on DSL 3Mbps. Sometimes it takes Netflix awhile to buffer enough to start playing but at least it works, most of the time. Not using high quality option but no matter since viewing on a laptop anyway. I dodge prime time viewing attempts. Probably could not play a news video in that time frame most nights.

My 20/5 cable internet has trouble too. Did I tell you how much I hate cable internet :).

So does no one have Google Fiber, Cox Gigablast, or Comcast 1 Gbps download and 1 Gbps upload speeds ?

Very limited availability though. Most of us here ain't at the locations Google is trying out in.

sorry no screen shot (im at work)

but test last night showed

17.6Mbps down
1.6Mbps up

Im using EE home broadband, not fibre just plain copper cable.
I am way down near SW tip of Cornwall, England

Only did test as my youtube was buffering more than normal.

Yep I was down in Cornwall a few weeks ago. Internet speed in general was really bad.

But I am happy as was using a 3g dongle (not 4g as not available) before this and had 2Mbps down and god knows how slow the upload was.

Fibre just cost too much even then we only get up to 50Mbps unless you pay even more.

guess it's the cost of living in beautiful surroundings.

Absolutely mate. Loved Cornwall but it can only be my getaway place. Couldn't live there permanently.

We pay for 50 Mbps down, 5 Mbps up, but Speedtest always shows me as getting around 60 Mbps down. Upload is right on the money though. Supposedly faster speeds at better prices are coming from our ISP but to be honest 50 Mbps has been more than enough for the things I do.

The local fibre company put out a press release today about gigabit (1000/500) services from next month. I'm excited :)

My telco has offered up gigabit last year sometime. It's nice and all, but it made me wonder if being able to download at 125 meg a second is worth the $100 a month asking price.

It's been about 9 months now, and I'm still fighting the temptation.

Interestingly it may actually end up being cheaper than my current 100/20 connection! Pricing still needs to be finalised, but an ISP with gigabit services in other parts of the country is charging $10 less than I'm paying to my current ISP (ISPs and fibre companies are "decoupled" here so you can pick and choose).

Recently I cut the (cable) cord and upped my internet speed. My ISP is Suddenlink. Before I was at a 50Mbps download speed and a 5Mbps upload speed for $65 a month, after I lost the bundle price, that service went to $75 a month, I upped it two times to $95 a month for 200Mbps download, 20Mbps upload, which I actually achieve when my computer is directly hooked to my router via ethernet. Using Wifi or POE, my actual download speed (when tested on line at Speedtest.net) ranges in the vicinity of 50-70Mbps. Of note, prior to upgrading I did not check to see what my actual download speed was when on the 50Mbps level.

Wow..!! That's crazy speed being in the uk. Guessing that's not home broadband, is it?!

Yeah, it's home broadband! They drilled into the flat and ran Cat5e cables (I think 5e) direct. http://hyperoptic.com/

£30 each per month (my housemate and I split the bill, so £60 in total). Ironically for such a connection, the router was only 2.4GHz and absolutely rubbish! So we replaced with an ASUS one. It's now a rock solid reliable connection and ludicrously quick. No throttling, no limits, no connection dropping. Just got a seedbox plugged in 24/7 via Ethernet.

We have 100/100 connection at work, so we're contemplating moving the FTP server to my place :p

Mind you, we didn't have fibre fitted in the building for a year (we were with Plusnet, yuck), so what a breath of fresh air.

Oh wow..!! I'm definitely going to look up and see if I can use my garage as the server room.

Pretty good since I'm paying for 250/100. Next tier is 500Mbit/s or 1000Mbit/s. Slowest one they offer is 100Mbit/s
