2) .... trombone for a local countywide community theatre; pretty much anything, anywhere, anytime...

Do you play trombone like this when you play for the community theatre? :D

Missed this thread the first time around....

Hobbies:
  • Reading
  • Home remodeling (hated it at first, growing to enjoy it)
  • Robotics (more of a wish-I-had-time-for-it hobby than an active one)

I'm looking to begin learning to cook as well.

MR was a hobby, now it's a job. ;)

dirtbiking (the motorcycle variety)
cliff diving (i dunno, i seem compelled to jump whenever the opportunity presents itself. don't worry, i jump into water)
computing (obviously)
building/creating things (made some shelves recently and venetian plastered a wall... to be continued. i like to build stuff)

those are the regulars.

______

27 months later edit: Wow, the only thing left that I still do on that list is the computing. :( Unbeknownst to me at the time, a few weeks after I wrote this post my life changed, profoundly. Things are vastly different in the UK and when it comes to the hobbies anyway it's not really for the better. Ah well, can't have everything.

Reading & Writing. - Sometimes an idiot will PAY me to do these things!
Training my dog, Captain Morgan
Ice Hockey - Watching
Floor Hockey - Playing
Exposing logical falacies & misleading info in mass-media presentations, not ONLY fox news!
But most of all, PEOPLE-WATCHING! -- just observing people's behavior is the greatest source of live entertainment. Plus, done right it can get you free drinks in bars.

Right now it is reading about iGary's PM troubles.

Reading is on my wish list of hobbies.
listening to music and going to concerts whenever possible
used to build plastic model kits
used to build quite large things out of legos
badminton
travel
Art: Design, photography
dinosaurs
astronomy
anthropology/archeology
ancient history (mostly early civilizations and Aztec/Mayan) (chinese history is very large and at times quite complicated as I can't pronounce the names very well and no book that I have looked at gives hints at pronounciation).

I can now cook rice and a few other things as well.

I used to like badminton too - me and my mates played a kind of ultra scary contact sport version
I'd be interested in how the game is played

The scary contact sport version I can tell you, but my memory of actual badminton rules are a bit hazy. Basically you play doubles (that way the court's cheaper between 4) and then completely neglect any sort of "mine" calling and both go for any shot down the middle, preferably colliding. Also, every shot is worth going for - even if it's going out, and even if it is 30 feet in front or behind you. Dive for it! Skin your knees on the wood floor. If you're not sweaty, bruised and bleeding by the end, you ain't playing it proper.

Then we'd go and wait for the bus home and try to snort sherbet.

As I said, good times.....:p

Thanks. I sort of figured it was similar to how I used to play, except with only two people. Never did like the whole net/rules anyway. I wonder if I could get my roommates to play. Might be interesting to have two shuttle cocks flying at once.

Edit: One of the last times I played I was stung by a bee or something. The birdie was shot into a tree, fell to the ground and when I picked it up, right on the thumb. Earlier one went into this batch of tall grass surrounding a tree trunk. Found out the next day that there was a nest of vicious stinging bee's in there.

I plan on hiking in the spring and put a few more travel dates to my calendar for next year. Reading, listening to music and eating out are what I enjoy the most.

I play guitar... a lot

I have replaced gaming with playing guitar, so I play at least 2 hours a day. It's more fun than gaming and it's actually constructive, useful, and stress relieving.

I'm getting a new guitar for christmas... check it out...

This thread makes me depressed. I've been having such a crap first semester I haven't been able to enjoy myself at all.

My hobbies used to be traveling, listening to music, playing some games, and spending time with friends.

This semester it was study, work, then spend the rest of the night worrying about crap.

NEOGEO for life.

Hanging out with my wife, cycling, backpacking, trying new (new to me) good restaurants...and running is becoming a new hobby, although I don't enjoy it as much as I do the other three.

My hobbies are:

Photography

Powerballing

Marine aquariums :D

Gaming

And ATM I'm trying to start lucid dreaming.

Sadly besides on this message board Macs are not one of my hobbies. :(

Thanks,

Jeff.

Watercolor painting and drawing. I sold my first painting in my first show and was just stunned. I love art and never thought I'd be able to pursue it. :)
