97% launch day 14 PM
Exclusively charged via MagSafe charger.

It's on the charger almost all day during work and in the car.
So from 6pm - 8am off the charger. I usually have to charge a bit on Sunday to get me through from Friday..

I've never considered any special care in battery charging techniques or schedule.

My thoughts is using AOD means battery will drain faster, so need to charge phone earlier than without AOD, more time we charge phone means more battery cycles & faster battery degradation.
Except the 14 Pro Max lasts longer even with AOD on.... at least when it was new.

Had it since May, charge it every day in the car, a little at work, and then of course all night.

Still at 100%

  • Day one purchase
  • Only used 5W charging
  • Always 80/20 rule; maintain 60/40 when convenient
  • Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight
  • Never used wireless charging on this device

14PM. 94%. Use MagSafe at home for the most part and fast charger in the car.

I’ve been on the betas but doubt that makes a huge difference . Never had drain this fast

Close to launch day 12 Pro Max is at 87%. I wireless charge every night. I sort of wonder about the accuracy of that 87% since my phone is usually running on fumes by the end of the day.

14PM down to 95% today. Purchased two weeks after launch day. Use wireless charging like 95% of the time.

I haven’t checked mine with coconut, but both iPhone 14 pro max’s that I have are at 100% (seen in settings) from launch day, one was purchased in November two months later. I charge my phones randomly up to 85% & never do I leave it plugged in overnight. I have optimized battery charging turned off. I usually charge my phones via a 20k battery bank.

For some reason my battery health on my launch day 14 Pro has been dropping rapidly in the last month. It was 92% a month ago, now it’s at 87%, 2% was just in the past week alone. No idea what’s going on, I’m not running the betas. I might end up paying the battery service fee because my battery life is starting to take a pretty big hit. I’ll decide in September if I truly can resist upgrading to the 15 Pro.

Battery degradation is not linear. It's still at 87% on my X (replacement Dec 2019). It hit 87% a long time ago.

Maybe that's the reason you still see 100%. Because the iphone doesn't know when the battery is fully charged.

14 PM, launch day, 98%.
I use an Anker dual port (2 USB-C), 60w fast charger.
Very rarely use the wireless car charging pad.

14PM day 1. It is charged on Magsafe Duo charger, every night. Current health is 97%. I have noticed that when it was newer, I could use it all day and it would stay above 50% before bed. Now, it's in the low 30% every night.

Launch day iPhone 14 Pro.

Battery health 99%.

I use a 3rd party wireless charger, using the Apple 5W plug. I charge over night, so the potentially slow charging speed is a non-issue.

To preface this, I’m nobody to say you’re wrong for doing this, but may I ask why? 80-20 is quite inconvenient, let alone 60-40. If you upgrade every year, why do you go through all of that trouble?

I’m not criticising, I’m just curious about the reasoning, maybe it just doesn’t bother you at all.

The rest are easy enough though, avoid sunlight, no wireless, 5w. I do the same, but I keep my iPhones for years, with my device being a 4-year-old iPhone Xʀ on iOS 12 with 93% health. I charge to 100%, but I do those, too.

As mentioned somewhere above, I really think the reported "Maximum Capacity" is dubious at best.

I do the exact opposite (of your quoted msg) when charging.
-always on a charger for most of the day
-100% Magsafe charging
-when its in the car; its's in a mount(charging) which gets super hot from the sun)

And I'm at 97% (day one phone).

Correlation doesn't imply causation.

Being at 100% or 97% or 93% doesn't mean you've done anything right (or wrong) it's just that you're lucky OR the phone is just BS'ing everyone :)

I'm using a 6.7-inch model, so the battery life is plenty. It's rare I have to use more than 60% of charge a day, so 80/20 doesn't bother me. I also have a charger at work if it's necessary.

I've gotten used to plugging in when I wake up and disconnecting when I leave for work. That amount of time is just enough to avoid exceeding 80% charge. It's a minor habit change from charging overnight.

60/40 is difficult to achieve and only realistic when I'm not using the phone or lounging around.

Launch day 14 Pro, also 94%. Battery life isn't great for it, usually less than 20% at the end of the day, sometimes much less than that.

I don’t let my battery get below 40% on a daily basis. I have several 20k Anker power sense III battery banks that I have with me at all times. When the battery reaches 40-50%, I’ll charge it for 30 minutes or less and charge throughout the day a little here and there and then the final charge to 85% and disconnect. Randomly I’ll charge the battery to 100% or close. My health is still 100%.

Launch day 14 Pro. Was at 100% up until 4 weeks ago, now all of a sudden down to 97%.
How can it stay at 100% for 11 months, then in such a short space of time lose 3%?

None of my usage or charging habits have changed.

Launch day iPhone 14 Pro. Never ran a beta and always updated iOS. I mostly charge overnight via MagSafe connected to a 20 W adapter all first party.

I thought I was crazy or the only one until I started seeing a lot of other people with this issue. I’ve had every single iPhone on launch day and have never had the battery health change more than a couple percent in that year.
