I've yet to find an accurate IQ test. I've taken hundreds of so-called IQ tests and my results have varied wildly from a lowly 120 (kinda low, IMO) up to 180 (um...yeah right.). Most of the time I've scored in the 135-142 (50% of the time).

Those IQ tests are fun and all but I don't take the results seriously.

I think the best you can get are from tests done with a phsycologist. Those you do online tend to be done incorrectly.

I'm wondering how many of you with average or above average IQ's clicked "Very Superior" ?

It's anonymous. I almost voted down because I thought it would look funny if the forum were made of stupid people.

----------

Knowing that only 2.2% have above 130. Im guessing that most of them did.

Having run a few polls before, I think that people who have a rare attribute(high IQ, left handedness, introversion) come to show up to vote in a poll.

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks. Years later, a doctor will tell me that I have an I.Q. of 48 and am what some people call "mentally retarded".

And I took the WAIS test, which is far more accurate than those internet IQ tests where I always score 70+.

Mind you, it's not a constant thing. As you grow into a tired old man. Besides illness, your mind goes slowly. You begin to doubt yourself and your ego suffers because of this. This continues until you have the IQ of a harvest field mouse. Then you die.

Something to consider :D

You're also given a percentile against people of the same age range, and can also be only compared against people of your own age AND education level, so that 22 year olds at uni aren't being compared to 70 year old diaper-wearing geriatrics who think the Queen is kinda hot. ;)

I think the best you can get are from tests done with a psychologist.

I did a couple of days of those with an industrial psychologist, back when I successfully switched careers to computers, about 30'ish.

I have their report to my employer somewhere, but I don't think they were so crass as to render their results down to a mere number. ;)

IQ does not measure common sense or good manners. It's a standardized, culturalized method of measuring relative competence in finding meaning in obscure numbers and patterns.

That said, I have an IQ of 132 (so the test says). It was several years ago, and it also means I'm the dumbest one in my family. I would consider it bragging to say that, but it truthfully means very little to me - I know who I am, I know what I believe, what I like, who my friends are, and where I'm going.

Smart or dumb, it's the inner person that counts.

Fully agree. I was tested at least three times when I was younger (elementary school)... each time I tested above 135. Does that mean I'm somehow special? I would think not relative to the potential intelligence I interact with at times, but then again, isn't all of life relative?*

*Unless of course the speed of light is conclusively passed, wherein we need to question our entire model of physics and relativity itself :)

I took a "proper" IQ test when I was about 10, and got 138. I took another test at 20, and still got 138 (it's supposed to remain constant).

On the other hand, I can do quick Web-based tests and get 150+ out of them :p

Havent done an IQ test in a really long time. When I would do them when I was little I would score well though. Didnt vote.

Waiting for large bias towards superior+ :D
Same-same for me. I don't remember the exact number, but whatever it was, it got me a membership in Mensa, for what little that is worth.

I've had a genius IQ since Middle school.

And no, it wasn't some Internet IQ test, it was administered by a Psychologist.

You dug up this thread to tell folks you have a genius IQ?

Perhaps the large IQ is compensating for a tiny something else... ;)

I have an estimated IQ of 131, based on a unsuperviced test similar to the one Mensa uses. My psychologist adviced me to join Mensa (or try at least) but I see no advantage in that for me personally.
