How are you feeling after this hellish day??

Disappointed that the white one isn't available.

Not hyped about the black one, so I am not popping a vein over it. I have the 3GS and an iPad. The build-up is always exciting, but the novelty wears off fast, and I can't stress out over things I can't control. I've ordered it. It'll come.

The only concern I have is that my mom is more excited that I thought she'd be about the iPhone 4. I turned her into a fangirl with the iPhone 3G. Now she actually wants the new one on launch day. I feel horrible because had I known, I would have pre-ordered one for her this morning when I ordered mine. Now she likely won't get her's until later. For me, I don't care, but I care about her. I hope she's at least able to pre-order tomorrow at the AT&T store (no Apple store in her town). If she gets it a week or 2 later, it won't matter. If it's months down the line, I'll feel really bad.

Absolutely no excuse for what happened today. I can understand being overwhelmed for a bit and a hiccup or two here and there, but a complete collapse of the system is unacceptable. I generally feel sorry for all the people who tried with no success, got their credit card charged three times with a new contract and no phone, leaked personal info, etc. It's a mess. I look forward to hearing all of the backlash and what else is to come of today in the next few weeks or so. Hopefully AT&T will compensate these guys somehow.

I'm no conspiracy theorist or get into all these fabrications but... Extraordinary hype for the iPhone during a presale, Apple can quickly point the blame to AT&T, and perhaps Apple will end their exclusivity with AT&T next year and look like "the good guys" by providing their customers with more/better choice in service providers.

Like I said, I look forward to the next couple weeks.

This has nothing to do with ATT. Apple dropped the ball on this just as much. They were just as ill-prepared for this as ATT was, from the moment the site went down through to now. no announcement of the White either, and drawing from all the hype from the Gizmodo leak to the WWDC, let alone the 3G launch, should have made them realize that they were going to be in over their heads on this. As a result Apple and ATT got the equivalent of a self-inflicted DDOS, and failed to see the magnitude of what they were getting into.

BL.

I'm not saying that Apple is completely blameless. And not having the white one was a pretty poor move as well.

But in order to buy an iPhone, whether from Apple, Best Buy, Wal-Mart, it must go through AT&T's system. And it was AT&T's system that was the biggest fault in the chain. The only reason why there were no problems at Best Buy was because those orders were being taken by their own ordering system that they will fulfill at a later time/date, rather than a live AT&T server, to the best of my knowledge.

FRUSTRATED
  • After three years of launches, this is the best they could come up with?
  • Oops! / Could not process your request / Session expired / Gateway timeout / Please try again later.
  • White version becomes a in-store "limited edition" version without warning?
  • AT&T remains the weakest link in every chain in every respect since 2007?

CONCERNED
  • Will my AT&T Premier order arrive on the 24th, or will they manage to bungle that up?
  • Are my preorders really good to go? Will there be a post-processing issue, technical, administrative, billing, etc., that will prevent a timely delivery or a delivery at all?

RELIEVED
  • Two 16GB reservations at Apple, one 16GB preorder on AT&T, one 16GB preorder and one 32GB on preorder at Apple.
  • Unlimited data plan actually carried over.
  • Delivery in the comfort of my own home. Going to store purely optional.

EXCITED :D
  • Launch day is yet to come.
  • iPhone 4 finally has all the minimum features I wanted in a smartphone.
  • iOS 4.0
  • FaceTime, FaceTime, FaceTime!

EXHAUSTED ;)
  • Good night, y'all.
  • It's been real.
  • See you in eight days.

Confused is my feeling.

On one hand I could rush to the side of Apple/AT&T.

On the other I can side with the conspiracy theories that aren't so far out in their own right

But really It's strange to me that Jobs would allow his core fan base (pre-orderes) to feel alienated (concerning the white phone). At WWDC it was clearly stated that the phone, black or white, would be available on the 24th. The limited stock argument is crazy since the phone is global. While a 3rd party is a 3rd party, it's nearly unbelievable that Apple wouldn't notify them before the pre-ordering started to only allow so many.

I do believe that this is all good for Apple in the end, just as the "lost" phones were. Cuz really, who is not going to stay an iPhone user because they were strung along on the pre-order date? My guess is not many. All in all it is just a phone. The best freaking phone on the planet.

My guess is that most of these "reports" aren't verified past the blog editor and only fuel an already roasting fire. I hope everyone gets what they expected and smiles as much as possible.

You could let her use yours until hers comes in?

I was nervous when I finally ordered it through Apple cause my card hasn't been charged nor did I receive a confirmation email. Was finally able to login on Apples side and see the order is in there for a June 24th date so I am revealed.

Relieved that it got through in time. I was trying for two hours straight on Apple.com, until I tried the Apple Store App, and I finished in 5 minutes. Had my confirmation email 30 seconds later, and then I just got giddy. I'm going to be like a bipolar person during a manic cycle who hasn't been on meds for months when I go to pick it up:D

I'm hoping and praying (I don't even believe in God), that there won't be activation hell this time around. If it does happen, I blame it on AT&T and not Apple, after all it was AT&T's servers that made today hell for so many.

Mainly concerned. Still fighting to get my $199 pricing for the upgrade (today some reps at At&t sent some sort of case thing to Apple saying i should get the upgrade). Not worried about the phone ordering thing because it's shipping to my permanent address which i won't be at til the 4th of July anyways.

I'll deal with not being able to pre-order a 32GB White iPhone 4.

What I may not recover from is the slap across the face from Apple not giving us some sort of warning, but instead parading the White iPhone all over.

I've never owned a PC, I've had every iPhone (#10 for original and 3G, shipped for 3Gs), and I have converted probably hundreds of PCs into Macs... no joke. So I'm a devoted customer and they're blatantly disregarding the fact that we care. Is it the end of the world? No. But it's still ridiculous.

Pissed.

Oh I mean "mad/frustrated"...

I'm having a hard time being an apple fan tonight. I feel betrayed. I feel like Apple is Ike and I'm Tina. :(

Apple needs to make a statement about the white iPhone 4. Theres no excuse for this bull crap.

I slept in thinking I could pre-order around noon...big mistake. I couldn't do it on apples website so i just settled for Best Buy, probably will not get the phone for a while:(

I experienced every emotion possible today. First, I was excited, then worried after hearing about all the backorder business. Then I was happy after AT&T called, next I was worried again after I got home and back on MR.

I'm going to bed folks. I don't even know why I'm still up. Good night MR.

Well lets see it started around 1 AM PST and I was excited to be able to pre-order until I tried to add it to cart 20 times and it kept saying Oops Error. Then the apple.com website went down twice and I was starting to get frustrated, but I was determined. So I kept trying and trying and trying and trying and then it happened at around 4:30 PM my order finally went through on apple.com for delivery. Of course I had a bit of a shock when I saw how much tax they were charging (I bought my last iPhone in PA, I now live in CA), but after spending that much time trying to get the order through I didn't really care how much it cost I was going to get the damn phone. So I paid the 360 dollars and some change for a 32 GB iPhone 4. It's now 11:00 PM and I haven't slept at all since Sunday night. Although I will sleep well tonight knowing that Apple has taken the money out of my account, sent me an email confirmation, and I got in before the pre-order batch was sold out. Its been a roller coaster ride from hell that was kind of fun at times in a masochistic sort of way. :)

Quick question, if I got an email confirmation for in-store pickup, but there are no orders showing on my account on Apple.com, am I going to be okay?

Thanks,

Don

Talk about a day of chaos.

Why hasn't Apple said ANYTHING?! They're just keeping quiet after 24 hours of MADNESS?!

SAY SOMETHING! If they just said SOMETHING, ANYTHING, I wouldn't be so upset.

But they just keep there.... quiet. As quiet as can be.

Are you mad that you got screwed by AT&T's system and got pushed back to the backorder

I find it rather amusing that people actually believe AT&T was at fault.

Apple _chose_ AT&T as their business partner for the iPhone.

Apples site didn't do any better.

Besides how could they possibly know how many people would respond, and attempt to purchase today? But hey, I guess it gives people comfort to be victims and place blame.

Feeling GREAT, will feel even better when I get my iPhone in on the 24th that I ordered 13 mins after preorders went live!!

To everyone that missed out -- sorry, that's just how it goes. There are not enough iPhones to go around at launch this time. Don't panic, just get one a few weeks after launch.

In a word....Pissed!

Apple offers the iPhone 4 in two colors, and I pick white. Apple says "they" will be available for pre-order on June 15 and I watch the websites all night to only find out........Pre-orders are now being taken....BUT......White is not available!

Say what you want, but that is one big, fat, FAIL!!!!! Period. If white wasn't going to be available to order on June 15, they should have announced that ahead of time.
