all these reviews are KILLING ME, since my watch didnt make the cut off for release day. think I am more excited for the watch than the phone. and I have to wait a week.... grrrrrr :)

Wish there’d been more variety of colours/finishes in these reviews. Most seem to have Space Grey while a select few got hold of SS Gold

No Space Black reviews? :(
the Space Black looks the same as last year and the year before.

The gold is new so that is why it’s featured the most. The Space Grey aluminium is also used because it’s possibly their largest sold model and it’s price tag will attract a larger crowd.

Guessing it's what Apple sent out to the reviewers anyway. Gold is the new colour, so they'd send those out.

Reviews seem positive overall. I am not sure we will have any negative reviews when the ECG feature is out. OS5 is implemented better on this watch as well.

i know a lot of people are glued to the new iPhone reviews since the embargo was lifted but doesn’t anyone know when the Series 4 reviews will start trickling out?
Dude, edit your post with links, please. So we don't have to scroll through the whole thread.

iJustine just sold 1000's of gold milanese watches for Apple :p

Beautifully shot and looks amazing on her in 40mm. My initial impression of the gold has changed, it does look more feminine that originally thought but it's looking great on the guys too.

Hoping to see a silver stainless steel milanese in a review today, preferably in 40mm.

I dont know if it's been posted but how much louder is the speaker on the watch? That's the biggest pain of my S3 you could hardly hear it even sometimes when holding it up to your ear where if you are already in a somewhat loud area it's a no go..

My wife's Gear watch is crazy loud I wish I could hear it loud enough sometimes when I'm driving one of our old diesel trucks at UPS.

John Gruber’s series 4 review

Mostly positive review. However, a good chunk of the beginning of the review goes on about how Apple Watch isn’t the nicest, yet Gruber never defines/explains how he determines nicest. Is he arguing that any watch that is mechanical and has a round face is automatically nicer? Gruber admits this is subjective but still writes about it as though it’s fact.

Before I got an Apple Watch I wasn’t wearing anything on my wrist. I think that’s who Apple was/is targeting. I also think the rounded rec design, while most likely for functional reasons, was Apple saying they don’t want to look like a poor mans mechanical watch. This is in stark contrast to most Android Wear watches which just look like cheap immitations of a mid-range mechanical watch. Apple still put a lot of effort into what they could do as well as higher end watch makers: watch bands (Gruber discusses this in his review).

One thing he didn’t mention which surprised me was no always on display. In the past he’s said that’s one reason he’s not a regular Apple Watch wearer.

I think he's just driving at the form vs. function argument. The Apple Watch's industrial design is driven almost entirely by the constraint that its face must be a featureless, blank, flat, square entity, and that the internals are fundamentally an electronic product. There isn't the mechanical craftsmanship or the stylistic flair that can be afforded to a traditional watch, or the scope to make a load of different styles and shapes and sizes like traditional watchmakers can. I think that is what he means by 'nicest'.

By contrast, in nearly every other product category, Apple has dominated the industry physical design.

Has it been firmly established that the haptic feedback for the digital crown is actually affecting the crown itself, and not simply shaking the whole device - like with the iPhone 7/8's home button...?

Before I got an Apple Watch I wasn’t wearing anything on my wrist.
Personally I've always worn watches, from first grade up to a year and a half, maybe two before Apple Watch launched. (The end of my perfect streak was because someone stole my watch in a gym locker room, so I was watchless...)

Most of my watches had been digital and not round, so this was never an issue for me personally. I hoped before the Watch was unveiled that it would be round (the Moto 360 looked damn hot to me - or so I thought until I saw close-ups of it anyway, plus the teardown showed some rather crummy internals... lol) I was clearly wrong back then, the rectangular format is so much better for an actually useful smartwatch. The new face on the S4 wouldn't even be possible on a round display, so that pretty much settles the which is better in the "round vs. rectangular" cage fight - what looks nicer is still up to personal opinion of course... :)

Prior to the Apple Watch I was wearing a Pebble Watch because it seemed almost magical to get my text messages on my wrist. Compared to the Pebble, the Apple Watch was like the most beautiful watch ever.

Before Apple Watch I wore G Shock and Suunto and as you all know, they’re not nicest watch in the world.. so wearing Apple Watch is damn fine to me.
