They say it will go on sale in December so it's 100% guaranteed that you will be able to place the order before the end of the year and get a receipt for 2012. If you'll get the machine in 2012 that's a completely different matter - but for tax reduction that doesn't matter.

Some places says "up to", some places says "or 768". So we'll see! :)

Pretty sure Apple's site (If i remember correctly) says UP TO 768.. so i would almost guarantee it. I'd say 128, 256, etc.

Thanks for the info. Wherever I happened to look I only saw 'or 768 GB', and I'm leaning towards that being the case. But of course we won't know until we see the pre-order options.

I don't need to have the 2012 iMac soon, but I really would like to see the pricing on optional upgrades. My guess is it will be up in less than two weeks.

Gentlemen, Gentlemen

Two weeks ago posters were going off the deep end because Apple had not provided any information on the release of the new iMac. Now you have an estimated time frame and you are still not happy. What do we have here, children antsy for Santa to come down the chimney. I have to say I find it incredible for adults to have no patience.

Just because Apple says December doesnt mean it is 100% sure. They can change the date as much as they want.

The new iTunes was supposed to be released in October, now it is November.

Just saying

Your post may not have been directed at me, but I'll still bite :D.

I find it a bit odd that the 21" iMac should be out in November, and yet preorder is not yet available. It could be that Apple doesn't want customers to see "4-5 weeks wait", or it could be that they haven't finalized component pricing.

I am quite patient, but it would be really nice to plan more precisely what I will be purchasing.

This seems like a long time for the iMac to be MIA, but after 539 days of waiting, I guess anyone who absolutely "needed" a new iMac already bought a new iMac.

At this point that new 13" retina MBP is starting to speak to me, especially since (after a mere two years) the wife's Dell Craptop is falling apart and desperately needs to be binned and she loves my 13" MBA.

A new iMac is still a "want" rather than a "need" for me since my "early 2009" 24" iMac continues to run great w/ Lion.

To keep their face, Apple should show new stuff if they are ready to deliver or have at least real dates in which they plan to deliver : they're not producing food that can be wasted if something goes wrong ...

Yes but itunes was announced to be released in october, it wasn't plastered all over their website. Unless something goes wrong, november and december it is.

So no one has a clue on "when" we'll be able to pre-order ? Any hypothesis ? I'd say 2nd week of November for a 21' iMac delivery last week of November (no clue at all regarding the 27' iMacs though)

Im hoping the pre-order option in online tomorrow! or maybe they will magically be IN STOCK!

they are definitely try to keep people away from the windoze fiasco if you ask me

Or it could just mean that everyone is busy preparing for Christmas cranking out TVs and whatever else and there isn't enough capacity to have enough iMacs built as quick as we'd like them to. Keep in mind they're also producing iPhone 5s, iPads, iPad Minis, Retina MBP 15, Retina MBP 13s and new iPods. Never in the history of Apple have they had so much demand for their products. They could be just stretched for manufacturing resources.

They said December for 27" and i suppose to see it before the 8 of it ,just in time to catch the first Xmas orders,as the 21" before the black friday.
It won't make sense to release it the 21 for almost December, such as the 24,25/11 etc and the 27 near Xmas or even after between 23 and 30/12.
Middle November for 21" and first week of December for 27".

would be nice of apple to at least give some info now that we are in November. Its kinda silly to state coming in November and when we actually are in November.

IKR? At least say "mid November" or "late November" so I would stop getting excited for nothing every single day :p

Ok, can hypotize something for 27' iMacs too : pre-order when 21' can be pre-ordered and delivery within December 20th for the first wave ...

It'll be before Christmas, because there's always some crazy people that get 2.000 USD / EUR computers as a Christmas gift and apple wouldn't want to miss out on those buyers

Apple Spain has actualized the student discounts for iMacs, so maybe they are preparing the pre-orders for soon....

My guess is that Apple is just staggering their launch schedule in order not to overload their transport channels.

First the retina MBook Pro and mac mini, small computers that are expected to bring good sales and profits, then the iPad(s) (mini or not) which are selling more units while certainly having better gross margins than mac, then the cheaper iMac 21,5", which will sell good numbers in standard configurations while the 27" will probably see more BTO and take more transport space so it moves last.

I think they are waiting as long as possible for each to meet the demands better once they can be ordered. Because they have had some problems and I think they didn't want to announce them...but had no choice because the previous model was almost completely sold out. but I think they could at least say like late november & late december

Don't think so... i Think they had in mind the iMac announcement for months but they have been waiting to introduce mac-mini, retina macbook 13 and iMac in the same event.

How could they know the demand of a product? I think the demand of iMacs is always the same because is a proffesional set-up. It's not like and iphone or ipad that you can change frecuently, if you change a computer that cost +1300€ it's because you really need it! And by other side if somebody needs a set-up computer he'll chose an iMac not a macbook or another kind of portable device.

If pre orders were available now for 21 now 27 and I wait to see what the 21 inch is like before I buy the 27 does that then mean that because I ordered later I am also the last to receive my iMac? Is their a first come first serve policy or is it purely statistical and based on principles like how close you are to the closes hub and what their stock levels are like?

I am going bto so it might take longer for me, so much so I might have to order before I know the full situation.
