The OP asked a pretty straight forward question. "When is Apple going to kill 16GB?". If you don't think this is a fair and legitimate question, fine. Are you seriously saying that asking that question is whining on his/her part? Really? If that question is out of line, you really really are in the wrong website/forum.

Edit: I see from your subsequent posting that I am wasting my time.

"Would you say the same thing if five years from now Apple still had 16 as their base?"

Was actually the question I was responding to, and yep, I definitely see all the spite about Apple maximizing their profits (at the expense of not getting 32GB to the masses for free) as "whining" sorry. People are lining up to buy the product. YOU are lining up to buy the product.

EDIT: Nevermind. I shouldn't expect someone like a forum participant (where whining is the status quo)to understand something as radically advanced as consumer choice, especially when we live in such a brutal police state. Apologies.

No, a forum such as this is a place to discuss technology components of Apple hardware. Whether gorilla glass or sapphire is a better option. What size screens people think are better. What type of processors are in development. The amount of hard drive space. The amount of ram. Lots of great material for intelligent, civil conversation. Telling someone to shut up and stop whining because they think the base storage should be 16GB.... is NOT civil, intelligent conversation. It provides absolutely zero value to the conversation. Noone, after reading your postings, has gained one iota of useful information about anything.

They've probably done the research, but I would think that going to a 32GB capacity would encourage users to spend more in the App Store or on iTunes. I would think that it would easily justify the few bucks it costs for an extra 16GB, and that the value of a consumer locked into the ecosystem would be worth it in the mid-term as well as the long-term. Meh, what do I know?
