I know Apple charges your card when it is first shipped if you are having it shipped to home, but does anyone know what happens when you preorder for in store pickup? Is it just charged when you pick up the phone?

I’m only asking because I was just notified that my credit card had fraud and was being issued a new one this week so didn’t want any issues. I’m hoping it’s not really charged until I pick up and can just use my new card.

Pretty sure they pre-authorize a charge to your card.

It’s usually preauthorized when you order it, right? My order went through. I just don’t want there to be an issue if they try to actually charge it later this week. I was hoping I would be good until I pick up.

I'm on iUP and I don't see the pre-authorize charge on my Apple Card. But I got an e-mail that my loan was approved. They typically will charge your account before your order is ready pick up. Not the other way around.

I’m on the IUP as well and that’s another concern is I need to swap out my credit card for the new monthly payments. I’m hoping I can just do that at the store as I don’t want to mess with things now. I feel like if I do, it’ll just change or cancel my order. For the IUP, are we just charged the first payment before it’s ready for pick up then? If so, I’m hoping I can then just change my card number when I pick up.

You can do it at the store or on the website once the loan is established.

Once you receive the email from Citizens with the information about your loan, just create your userid on the Citizens web site and change the credit card on your profile. Once you login just click on the "Grey" person Icon on the upper left of the screen next to where your Name and loan number are listed.

Doesn’t matter, you won’t lose your spot. If there’s an issue charging the card you will get an email with a link to update payment info. Better have a working card to update because it gets cancelled after 24 hours I think. Something similar happened to me in the past and I was able to change the payment info with a link they emailed me.

I just got charged the tax today for my in store pickup order.
So did I overnight. First thought it was a mistake because the two charges were identical even though my wife’s monthly payments will be less than mine (her iPhone 8+ was completely paid off) but then I realized it was the pre-payment for the taxes.

I still did not get charged for the tax for my in-store pick up yet. I remember last year I wasn't charge still Friday early morning.

Thank goodness for this thread. I woke up a little while ago and saw an Apple Store/Apple Card payment that I didn't know. I think it's for the iPhone but seeing others are getting teh same is making me feel better. Also for in-store pick-up.

I saw that my local Apple Store still had the 11 Pro Max Space Gray 512 GB available for pick up today and placed an order for in-store pick up and I see the full amount being authorized on my card. lol

How did you guys buy for in store pick up? It never gave me that option.
Apple store app on my phone I had a ton of options for the different stores in my area and different time slots.

I have read of other people not seeing it. So not sure what could cause something like that.

Maybe because I’m in NY. You’re lucky

It should have but you had to make it quick because Apple puts some allocations on the in-store pick and for walk-in reservations on launch day. So by the time you got in, it's possible that others got to it before you did and therefore made that store no longer available fo pick up. As of today there are certain models that still shows available for in-store pick up and depends on which apple store.

Ah I see, I guess I wasn’t quick enough. I went on several hours after preorder had begun, that and I live in a well populated state NYC.
