Actually, I have a question. Where is a good place to keep an eye out for i4 JB, other then on this forum?

Now they're probably waiting for Apple's "fix" for the reception issues. It would be crazy to release the jailbreak before then, since it would give Apple time to patch the hole and just about everybody is going to be installing this update immediately to see how it affects the reception problem.

Apple claims that it will be a couple of weeks. I dont see it being crazy as this gives developers a head start on adjusting the apps for the iPhone 4. Also, If i'm correct, planetbeing described what they're working on as something that will make the baseband changes immune to each firmware upgrade.

Correct me if I'm mistaken.

If planetbeing is right, then you're right as well. But if it's the standard, run-of-the-mill jailbreak, then Apple can easily patch it in iOS before they release their update.

I'm pretty sure, cause he mentioned its not a userland jailbreak that comex developed that you just explained.

I don't think they'll wait for the Apple update. Because (1) who knows how long it will be and (2) the update is basically useless anyway.

Think about it, if they were going to release an update that fixed the reception issues, everyone would want it, so people would be upgrading and complaining about the next jailbreak. But Apple just announced that all they're going to do is change the 5-bars display to show different signal strength. Useless. The dev team will most likely just release the jailbreak and tell people not to upgrade to 4.0.1 when it comes out. No one "needs" that update anyway. Just keep in mind that your signal probably isn't as good as what it says it is and you're fine.

Patience... we're almost there. ;)

The problem is if they release now, Apple can slip a fix into the new update, and that will come standard on new iPhones shipped. Why release now when there are people still waiting for back orders.

Exactly. That's why I'd be shocked if they released the 4.0 jailbreak before Apple releases 4.0.1, unless that jailbreak truly is built off of the bootrom, thus making it bulletproof.

Didn't GeoHot claim he can pwned all iPhones for life? What's the deal with this claim? Is he going to share his findings w/ the dev-team or just keep it to himself?

He kept going on about not making any plans as far as making a jailbreak. So from the look of it, it's all talk from him but I doubt he'll release or share anything at this point.

He said this before Iphone 4 was even launched and before he had even got an Iphone 4 , which pretty much makes him sound like a total bser. how can he know that when he did not even know if Iphone 4 bootrom was going to be anything like the older one. Sounds like he just wanted to Look good at that stupid hacking convention, lost a lot of respect for him.

People are still waiting 3+ months for the PS3 'Hack' that he has claimed, so that people can use the OtherOS and still play online.

I wouldn't expect anything from him anytime soon, as for the Dev-Team and others, i'd expect them to wait until the new Apple firmware release just in case Apple patch it like they always do.
