Thank god I didn't wait for 13inch version. Almost did.
Tiny storage space. Integrated graphics. Dual core processor. Nearly $2,000.
The screen isn't THAT good. Overwhelming pass on this one.
the rmbp 13 is basically launched a year before it shouldve been. Haswell is where this should be at.
Thing is I found the storage size quite small, it should have been at least 256gb
What a bummer. No way I'm paying 1699$ for a 13" with integrated graphics and 128gb SSD.
MBA 13" here i come..
... and suddenly the 15" rMBP looks like a bargain...
It's a lucky guess. I figured it might need a big battery because Retina will require the backlight unit to work 2-3 times harder to deliver the same brightness.
Yup.. Apple has really gone mental this time. They know we'll pay the amount their products cost. But usually you get a prime computer..
The correct value is 74 Wh, so, again: good guess!![]()
It certainly is a prime computer, I have no doubt about it. But I also think Apple is pushing too far here. With a US$ 1,699 price tag, I was expecting 256 GB of SSD. And I would expect a Core i7 processor and 256 GB SSD in the US$ 1,999 model. But then Apple delivers less than expected. It's a hard call to pay US$ 1,699 for a laptop with a 128 GB SSD; ditto for paying US$ 1,999 for a laptop with a Core i5 processor. The 15" model has a quad-core Core i7 processor, a dedicated graphics card and, still, it costs only US$ 200 more...
And here's the kicker: you don't even get an option to upgrade RAM in the 13" model to 16GB.
$200 more gets you a quad-core CPU, dedicated GPU, and a much higher resolution display in a slightly thinner body. The only trade off is an extra 1lbs to consider. But heck... I think something is wrong with Apple this time around. I expected a premium for this computer, but it's beyond my expectation.
That's below my expectations and again Apple delivers less than expected for a ludicrous price tag...
The problem is... Apple has always been this way. I think you were just expecting too much.
