With last month's iPhone 11 and Apple Watch Series 5 event in the rearview mirror, and several more products in the rumor mill, it is fun to look ahead and speculate about if and when Apple might host an October event this year.

Apple has several rumored products in its pipeline, including a 16-inch MacBook Pro with a scissor keyboard and an all-new design, refreshed iPad Pro models that will possibly sport triple-lens rear camera systems, a refreshed Apple TV, and just maybe the so-called Apple Tags items trackers if they are ready.

Apple has also yet to reveal a release date for its redesigned Mac Pro, having only teased that it is "coming this fall."

To be clear, there is no guarantee that Apple will host another event this month, but there is certainly a chance given that Apple has done so in five of the past seven years. All of those October events focused on the Mac, iPad, or both, and all took place within the second half of the month.

Last year, for example, Apple hosted an event on Tuesday, October 30 at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, and it wouldn't be a stretch of imagination to think that an October event this year could take place around the same time.

apple-event-october-schedule.jpg

Apple analyst Neil Cybart shared an interesting observation on Twitter today, noting that Apple has reported its quarterly earnings results on a Tuesday for five out of the past six quarters. For the quarter just ended, however, Apple will report its earnings on Wednesday, October 30.

Apple is going to report FY4Q19 earnings on October 30th. That's a Wednesday.Since early 2018, the only other time that Apple earnings didn't fall on a Tuesday, Apple held a product event earlier in the week. Could be nothing OR could indicate something occurring on Oct 28th. - Neil Cybart (@neilcybart) October 1, 2019

On the same day of Apple's earnings reports, CEO Tim Cook and CFO Luca Maestri join analysts on a conference call to discuss the results.

The above might seem insignificant, but the last time Apple's earnings did not fall on a Tuesday was nearly a year ago, when it shared results on Thursday, November 1. This is likely because on the Tuesday prior, Apple was busy hosting its Brooklyn event, unveiling new iPad Pro, MacBook Air, and Mac mini models.

Naturally, this leads to the idea that Apple could be planning to host an event in the final week of October.

Cybart speculates that Monday, October 28 could be the date of the event, presumably given the two-day gap between Apple's event and earnings call last October, but Apple typically holds events on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday. Tuesday, October 29 is probably a better guess for a potential Apple event this month.

If so, the final week of October could include Apple's event on Tuesday, Apple's earnings on Wednesday, and Apple TV+ launching on Friday.

Of course, Apple could surprise us with invites to an event on a different day of this month and render all of this moot. This is merely speculation for the sake of discussion, and nothing is official until it is official.

I am hoping they update the Apple tv again as we are about to buy one to watch Disney +. Also going to check out Apple tv + for a year at least since it is included. We have been wanting to upgrade our 2nd gen apple tv but didn't have a reason til now.

Also holding out hope for airpods update that is rumored to be coming out sometime.

It seems unlikely they would launch Apple TV + without another event to more explicitly promote it, and late October would be a great time for a marketing push. So the timing makes sense.

Fingers crossed they will also announce new iPad Pros!!

The original is no longer available it seems but this poster captures the text which epitomizes this post

Here's hoping for a refreshed iPad Pro. I'd be happy with just a silent update via press release after the event, but I'm thinking Adobe will be demo'ing Photoshop on it at the event.

Specs:
Updated SoC
6 GB RAM (definitely)
Updated camera (probably)
128 GB storage base model (hopefully)
USB4 (wishful thinking, but unlikely)

I know that you can't keep up with tech - but I just got the 2019 MBP 2 months ago, it would be a drag to know that new machines were coming so soon. But computers are just like gambling I guess, you win some and lose some.

There should be a lot of new Mac stuff, the Mac Pro launch, the Macbook Pro 16in launch could be a refresh on the Mac Mini and the iMac Pro and iMac. It should be Mac month. I am getting a new 16in macbook pro or if they update the Mac mini might do that. Should be a exciting month for Mac. You can not say that Apple is ignoring the Mac community this month :)

Frame rate on many Apple Arcade titles are pretty sluggish on Apple TV 4K. So faster Apple TV is much appreciated and necessary.

Updated remote, HDMI 2.1, support for multiple gaming controllers, and Apple-designed gaming controller would make it perfect for me.

I still think the iPad Pro with an A13X will be out soon and will coincide with Photoshop being released.

Also hoping for a new Apple TV with the same A13X. would be great for Apple Arcade.

I would love an Apple TV - but they do not allow Air TV to sync to Sling on Apple TV.. the only thing stopping me from buying one.

I am expecting a $6000 Mac Pro with a T2 chip that will not allowed us to change/replace the default storage.
Well this machine is super powerful and there is a lot of people who think they know about computer hardware and they end up messing up their system and then calling Apple for help trying to figure out why it is not working. Like anything thing if the hardware manufacture follows Apple T2 hardware guide lines it should be no problem.

I always feel sorry for a Applecare phone support person when dealing with customers that think they know what they are doing but screw up their system and expect Apple to bail them out. It costs Apple tons of money to have people sitting on phones troubleshooting user created f ups.

I have been a full-on Apple fan for most of my life. But like REM, I'm losing my religion. I LOVE my Apple watch and TV, I'm ambivalent about iPhone, and I don't know that I will buy another Mac.

I had expected to update my Retina iMac (the first one) after a few years when I bought it, but they haven't made anything that made me want to buy it and it is still powerful enough.

I wanted to replace my Mac Pros with a new Mac Pro, but they really did go PRO with it, so that the base is so expensive if you are not going to customize it, it's a terrible value.

As much as I like MacOS, due to a lack of hardware innovation and wow factors, I'm really not interested in paying the Apple tax anymore.

And I'm not going to use an iPad for my computer. It may work for some, but not for me.

My gaming rig has just become my daily driver.

So, as financially successful as Apple has been, they have left lots of money on the table, because they just aren't that interesting anymore. I am keeping a sliver of hope that they have something up their sleeve.

<<braces for fan attacks>>

Really. And More? makes part of the headline. We want to make sure that we include the possibility of the release of products or services that we don’t know about.

You're holding out for the wrong things.

There are absolutely no updates coming to Apple TV or AirPods anytime soon. There are no products in Apple's catalog that are less in need of updates.

This always cracks me up. The base model is 64. They offer 256. All you're saying here is: "I want to be the person who buys a base model, so Apple just needs to upgrade their base model to meet my needs."

No. There are plenty of people with no need of anything more than 64 GB. Those are the people who get to save the $100. Not you.

I can't stand the way people continuously think that they shouldn't have to buy more than the base model, even though they are exactly who the mid and upper tiers are for.

I wonder if/when iMacs will drop HDDs/Fusion drives? No other current Macs have them. I wonder if Apple will release a future version of macOS that runs on all current Macs, except iMac due to lack of a T2 chip? Yes, I know, I'm probably being paranoid and building a mountain out of a molehill.

The 16" MacBook Pro has my full attention.

I continuously switch between a 27" iMac and a 13" MacBook Pro...doing the same work, and the difference is just too dramatic. I want to be able to do more work on the laptop and get away from the desk more often, and the potential of a 16" MacBook Pro has me very interested.

Assuming it does indeed have a better keyboard (I highly enjoy the Magic Keyboard on my desk) and physical escape key, I will definitely consider it.

It really should have Face ID instead of stupid Touch ID, but Apple seems determined to force this inferior tech and experience on pro Mac users. Touch ID is a terrible user experience on MacBook.

iMac Redesign anyone?

I think the new XDR display and $1k mount design is going to work it’s way down to the next iMac design. Once manufacturing gets streamlined, the mount will become cheaper to produce. I think the mount would be incredible on the iMac, just like the arm on the iMac G4 was.
