I am hoping they update the Apple tv again as we are about to buy one to watch Disney +. Also going to check out Apple tv + for a year at least since it is included. We have been wanting to upgrade our 2nd gen apple tv but didn't have a reason til now.

Also holding out hope for airpods update that is rumored to be coming out sometime.
What could they even update the Apple TV with at this point beyond just a new processor?

I know that you can't keep up with tech - but I just got the 2019 MBP 2 months ago, it would be a drag to know that new machines were coming so soon. But computers are just like gambling I guess, you win some and lose some.

Just out of curiosity, do you visit the buyers guide at the top of the page? The MBP has had a 'CAUTION' label for at least some time...and the 16" MBP has been rumored since late spring/early summer. Did you by chance miss that information?

While XDR would be great, I think it will be saved for iMac Pro.

All iMac really needs are (1) redesigned chassis designed for better thermal dissipation, (2) smaller bezels to look more modern, (3) T2, (4) all SSD configuration, and (5) minor spec bumps here and there (e.g., Wi-Fi 6, latest CPU and GPU, USB 4.0).

I was more talking about the style and the mount then the specs of the display. Adding the features of the XDR display would increase the price of the already expensive iMac Pro.

Get a load of this
That's already been established as a 'coming later' feature by previous analyst notes, it's coexisted alongside the late 2019 MBP redesign rumour for quite a while already. As far as the iPad Pro goes, it seems this year we might get a small revision with the triple camera module, but keep the A12X (6GB RAM across the board?) and then jump to a redesign around this new display with a 5nm A14X in 18 months time or so.

The 16" MacBook Pro has my full attention.

I continuously switch between a 27" iMac and a 13" MacBook Pro...doing the same work, and the difference is just too dramatic. I want to be able to do more work on the laptop and get away from the desk more often, and the potential of a 16" MacBook Pro has me very interested.

Assuming it does indeed have a better keyboard (I highly enjoy the Magic Keyboard on my desk) and physical escape key, I will definitely consider it.

It really should have Face ID instead of stupid Touch ID, but Apple seems determined to force this inferior tech and experience on pro Mac users. Touch ID is a terrible user experience on MacBook.

Same situation and completely agree. 27" iMac at the office and 13" MBP for working from home and on the road. Even with dropbox sync, it would just be easier at this point to have one take it everywhere computer. I do like the portability of my 13", but reality is I sit down and put in on a meeting room table, or plug it into a 27" monitor at home. Actual travel on a regular basis has thankfully become a thing of the past for me.

It was a green light as far as I could see when I pulled the trigger in July.

ARM!

Truthfully though, while I think Macs will eventually go ARM, I don't think it will begin with the iMac and I don't think it will begin in 2019 either.

ARM is too early at this point. Even Apple consider ARM only for MacBook. And the biggest issue would be compatibility with software. Apple's own software wont be a problem but others are.

Read both this and a rumor about MSFT's extravaganza for Oct 2nd. The release of an effective virtualized Windows, an ARM-based laptop, and an effective WSL have the potential to change the Windows game. While I will still buy a new MBPro, I really get the sense that having a tech visionary + effective leader (my sense of what Nadella is) is going to prove very valuable for MSFT.

This event can’t come soon enough, I’m still using my 2012 rMBP and it’s time to upgrade.
You say that but there's no guarantee a new MBP will be a better MBP (particularly with their recent record on MBPs).

I just hope the 16" Macbook Pro will not disappoint... I'm already looking to jump ship :( Lenovo and Dell have such powerful machines in their portfolio.
Not to mention the IO functionality and extremely competitive pricing.

There are a few registered models which were leaked a couple of months ago. Plus the Mac Pro and the new macOS. I think there will be an event for sure.

Honest question: what about the Touch ID experience on MacBook Pro don’t you like? I think it’s fantastic personally and am curious where the pain points are for others?

I’m hoping for a MacBook that has the new keyboard switch.

Actual Vulcan support would be even better but I don’t see how that is ever going to happen. Oh well, as long as bootcamp works I’ve still got options.

I don’t really see the point in releasing new ipad pro’s right now. The only thing that I dislike about the device is how quickly the Smart Keyboard folio case breaks down. I am on my third one. I replaced one, apple replaced the other.

I need to upgrade my MBP (2011 17”), its GPU died last week and thankfully there is now a way to force it to use the integrated graphics. OK but slow.

Catalina puts an end to many of my favorite apps, and it will force me to either drop them or buy a subscription. Not looking forward to that transition.

That's just a chicken and egg problem. A lot of software will be made compatible only after an ARM system ships.

There's tons of macOS software written using standard Xcode tools and high-level languages (e.g. zero x86 asm). The vast majority of those macOS applications can be simply recompiled for ARM with very little extra work, if any. The vast majority of Linux apps already run on ARM systems (Raspberry Pi's, et.al.), and a lot have already been ported to macOS as well. A lot of Microsoft and Google software also already runs on various ARM based systems. iOS applications could also be easily ported to macOS, both x86 and ARM, using Catalyst on Catalina.

But no developer is going to do that small amount of work until some macOS product ships (or is about to ship) that requires it.

Yes, there are at least a couple of officially registered model numbers that still haven't been spoken for, despite the fact that we got the iPad mini 5, iPad 10.2, and iPad Air this year already. I suspect they are for the iPad Pro refresh, although there should be additional model numbers as well that we haven't seen.

Add to that the curious fact that we have iPad codenames including iPad1, iPad2, iPad3, iPad4, iPad5, iPad6, iPad7, iPad8, and then we jump to iPad11. There is no iPad9,x or iPad10,x.

They are long overdue for a RAM upgrade. They have been on 4 GB RAM since 2015 (except for one orphaned 2018 model). This is especially important now that iPadOS is out, and big apps like Photoshop are finally coming out. Plus, even the cheapest entry level iPads now have 3 GB RAM.

I'm hoping Apple announces an updated Apple TV. If they do, it will be my first TV. If they don't, 4k it is.

I'm hoping for an iMac that no longer has the hard drive bump. Don't get me wrong I don't need it to be as thin as a MacBook Pro, I'd rather have it keep enough air space for a proper desktop CPU etc. But they've had this design for a while now. The iMac doesn't need more than a 5K panel, but adding a T2 chip would be nice. I'd probably pull the trigger on an iMac with Apple Pencil support and a Surface Studio style stand, though we all know that isn't in the cards.

Right now I'm cuedup for a new iPad Pro more than anything. I have the 9.7 inch and I want one with an A13X processor damnit!
