No matte screen will occur. This is apple. Just because a couple people talk about it on the forums incessantly doesn't mean there's popular demand for it.

Oh, but there is. I know people who decided agains an iMac because it had no matte option. I am sure that at least 10-20% of the customers would actually prefer a matte screen (myself included).

Its not gonna happen. Move on.

Anti-glare != Matte.

The anti-glare rumor is a strange one to pop up and turn out not to be true. I'm not at all saying it's confirmed, but I would be surprised if it wasn't.

Yes, anti-glare = matte. The coating to reduce reflections absorbs them instead, creating a matte surface.

That is, unless new technology arrives to change this.

museum GLASS Apple won't drop the glass panel and go back to a non flush display/bezel

Not even close to 20% I'd say 10% is pushing it.

The general public doesn't care about matte screens.

You mean new technology like moth-eye?

Or invisible glass?

Or super-clear glass?

Apple does not push the boundaries of technology. Sometimes they will adopt a new connector technology, but they don't jump onto radical new technologies like this until they are mature.

It's good to see that there are other people who seem to as desparate as I am .. makes me feel a little bit less nerdy

That makes no sense. Do you feel less human when you around other humans? Why would you feel less nerdy when you're around other nerds? :D

I care about matte screens. I care that they DON'T include that nastiness. lol.

LOL

I don't meant to be ignorant of the needs of matte screen lovers but in the end it comes down to lighting.

Graphics Pro for years have uses display hoods and other means to limit light refraction from influencing or hindering graphic work.

I'd like to see the matte and regular screen side by side before deciding which was best.
As for being desperate for the release I think we are all with you on that one. That's why we are here everyday (and other places) tying to find every scrap of news. I was the same before I purchased my first iPhone. I made the decision to buy the new model then had to wait 3 month for it to be released. Now it seems I've been waiting forever to get my first mac. I hate it every time I turn my PC on. It's just not where I want to be (hence I'm normaly on the iPad or iPhone).

how does an overnight launch appear in european stores? I mean, we're 6 hours ahead of EST, is the apple store updated at the same time all around the world or does europe get the launch earlier than the states (to make it an overnight appearance)?

Whole world goes down

I used "over night" more as an expression than anything else, but yes as the poster above me stated, I do think they go down globally, which would put Europe at around noon, depending on the lenght of the downtime.

The question is why does the apple site go down at all? When you update a website I know you can make all the changes offline and then when you are happy you hit the switch.
