Yep, it's one of Apple's unique marketing techniques, over the years Apple, and not any other company that I know of, has managed to turn a negative thing as downtime and unavailability to something positive and create attention. It's an interesting concept really, and not something they can patent for once. ^^

It's kinda like a global online media version of "Look, here's a present, it might contain something really nice" and the world goes crazy and starts drooling. Quite effective to be honest!

No. He will change it to the 15th after tomorrow if it's not released.

That's a bummer, hard to keep up with all the news so since the release of ivy bridge that's still the latest news nothing to report following that regarding the iMac?

New 1 to 1 sessions?

Just read somewhere that Apple stores are rearranging the 1 to 1s and training programs at stores on May 15th. Maybe to coincide with purchasing your new iMacs?!?!

Crossed my mind too, though it doesn't strike me as a great marketing strategy or anything so I don't really see why they'd want to release both at the same time, perhaps just a coincidence. (Hopefully.)

I was looking at the Dell website and to order a new Ivy Bridge system, it says it will ship on the 25th. I am speculating that their production has only recently begun. I also speculate that Apple is now producing new iMacs with a release date probably on the 29th.

I was talking to guy who supposedly has connections to inside, at any rate what he was saying is the next new design imac, not just an ivy cpu and such i. The same chasis as now.

I always take info like this with a grain of salt which is why I asked others here if they heard this too.

idc i want it now

Still doesn't explain why many stores are out of stock (and some aren't expecing new shipments), especially across europe, the shipping times from apple themselves seems to have gone up almost globally, even if it's just from 1-3 to 2-4 or 4, or why several reported stores are having sales and special offers.

Hurrrry, Apple. I'm the most impatient person on Earth. For anything other than an Apple product, i would have already given in, but i don't plan on buying a new iMac for 3-4 years after this, so i want the newest when i get it.

Wow it might be tomorrow! That would be great. I dont think it will have anything major (in the sense of a redesign) if it is a "silent update". I think if not tomorrow, we are about 80% set on an announcement at WWDC, along with the Macbook Pros.

What do you think is so special this time for the first Mac hardware announcement at WWDC sine '09, and the first iMac announcement there EVER?

Do you think that maybe because Steve Jobs is gone, Apple is going take longer than usual for updates because now they're doing it a different way?

Highly doubtful. If this iMac does turn out to be a redesign then I can guarantee you Steve was involved with it before he passed.

Yup. Any new design that comes in the next few years he had a part in. You can almost guarantee that. Apple doesn't just make and release a new design within a year or so. They test, test, and test.
