Anyone think they will restore the (classic) iOS 6 look? Using iOS 7 and 8 after so long is really making me miss it. I really hope they loose the flat look by iOS 9 or 10 and go back to what made the platform so awesome to use... the look. :D

I'm afraid I think this is the new design, tbf that is where every design is going; flatter and more minimalist. Look at W8 and Android L, they are following and I don't think iOS 6 will ever come back...

Why not? Many people want it back.

Because Apple is ****ing stubborn as a mule ;)

There's a reason you can't downgrade your iOS version on hardware that you paid for...

You either put up with what they give you, or you hit the bricks!

I suppose. I just find it so much easier on the eyes versus iOS 7/8.

"Many" != >50%

Not that Apple would care, really. Apple is first and foremost a design company, and like it or not, they do know what works, and what doesn't.

iOS6 UI was nice. I'm not arguing that it wasn't. But I sincerely doubt it will be something we will see again.

I read on here how badly some want it back. I've read that some even refuse to upgrade to 7.
We are a minority on ONE internet forum. And Apple is not in the habit of reviewing our posts.

We do not the entirety of Apple's customer base make. Most Apple customers could care less about iOS 6 and want the latest.

As much as I'd like to get iOS 6 back on my iPhone 5 it's never going to happen.

So if you like 6 so much, like me, how do we evolve and move to newer devices like the 6/6+? Why did you upgrade to 7 if you wish you had 6 back?

it will happen...in 2011.

Well, I for one am not moving to the 6/6+. Don't like any of the color options and I don't care for iOS 8. My iPhone 5 suits me just fine and continues to work very well.

iOS 7.1.2 was forced on me. It wasn't a deliberate choice. My old iPhone 5 had a battery that was swelling. It was pushing up on the bottom of the screen and you could actually see the sides of the LCD by the time I was forced to replace it under AC+.

The replacement came with iOS 7.1.2. :(

Any idea eyongren why Apple doesn't allow people who are out of warranty to downgrade their OS besides being stubborn?

I mean you used to be able to (if you had the IPSW file) until Apple implemented the system where they need to still be signing it.

I think HTC has a program that allows you to unlock your bootloader on your Android device as long as you void your warranty.

I mean it's not like most customers even know what an IPSW file is, so it would simply help those die-hard techie customers that want the old experience.

The iOS 6 look is gone and not coming back.

Apple sold record numbers of 5S and 6/6+ on launch day. Most consumers clearly don't view the new look badly, or they would buy something else.

OP: iOS 6 is the best looking mobile OS. That's a FACT. iOS 7 looks like something a child designed. I'm serious. I use it on my iPad 3 and love it. I wish the 5S had shipped with it. I will use 6 for as long as my iPad turns on.

Because Apple is a consumer product company that makes money based on change. Forcing you to update makes them money.

And Apple has been doing this for a long, long time. Even before the iPhone. The original iMac came without a floppy drive. Users were angry.

Apple cut off support and security updates for OS X 10.5.8, despite the fact that there is a small but very much alive community of PowerPC enthusiasts (of which I am part). Apple continues to slowly dismantle protocols and products and services that we use. All in an effort to force us, finally, to upgrade to Intel Macs.

It shouldn't matter what we do with old devices or what systems we want to run on them, but Apple wants to control the experience and it wants to keep everyone together at roughly the same level. Again, forcing people to move forward means more sales for Apple.

I certainly don't care for it to come back. I'm willing to bet you're in the minority. Don't bother counting the amount of people here. This is a tech-enthusiasts site. People here will always be in the minority. Most people don't really care. The typical person gets a new iPhone and notices the OS looks different from the older one and just say, "Oh, it looks a little different, okay". Then go about their lives.
